as every member on here would probably say NO lol, even though i own a 1.1i the most im doing to mine is a manifold and superprint backbox, and alloys i dont need a fast car :D

and the same repetative reply :D

Depends on what you're after. Performance wise there is little point in investing serious dosh into a 1.1, may as well make it look good.

If you're looking for performance I would get saving for a bigger engined model.

I think its worth it, make it look cool then when u can afford it throw an engine in there :)

Probably not.

all im gunna do is lower mine, and get a new back box. for now anyway lol. its worth it iff your gunna enjoy it IMO. no point spending ££££ on the engine though IMO

30th October 2008, 22:12
depends on how long you are planning to keep the car for as said before not much point doing anything with the engine since your not really gonna get much performance out of it but looks wise you could always do that since things like rear lights, seats etc can always be swapped over to another saxo if you get another higher engined one.

1.1 performance?

no point. wait and get a vt*

Save up :) get a Vtr Or Vts
if you think a 1.1 is eating your petrol then try a Vts. its like burning money lol :)

Danr

Modifications don't have to be performance based. Some poverty spec. models can look awesome imo!

Barely, an S isn't that bad on petrol. Only going to get gash MPG if you rag it everywhere.

im going to keep it for quiet a long time because i like the car its a nice drive and going to wait and till im in my 20s so my insurance wont be as much if i do get a vtr or vts lol so i might just do stuff to the lights and alloys and body kit maybe atleast then i can put it on another saxo if i get 1 if not atleast iv had fun doing it up lol anyone know any good websites for doing up saxos?

yeah all depends on how you drive them though compaired to a 1.1 i would imagine it would be worse

i have a vtr and i dont even wanna mod that much more because i know for a fact i'll end up swapping it for a vts within the next 6 months! only things im going to be doing from now on will be things i can swap onto the next one

if its your first car, you dont want to be splashin out and making it quick, give it a few nice bodys mods i.e. wheels, lowered etc.

you dont wanna do what i did either.. i spend 6 grand on a 1.2 corsa, what a waste of money :(

p.s. 100 posts :)

I would't, by the time you have modified it how you want, you will want more performance than a 1.1, just save up and wait till you can get something with a bit of poke :y:

maddison_vts
30th October 2008, 23:27
for a body kitted corsa, that looks really good.

on topic though, live with what you've got. i've always thought the best way to modify a 1.1 is slam it, nice set of wheels. to make sure people don't think your a boy/girl racer that thinks you've got some sort of rally slag, have a sticker in the back window saying 'low 'n' slow'.

Depends what you want to do to it. I'd say save your money and get something faster when you can afford it.

thing is the lesser spec cars can still be fun. When our decent cars broke we fitting buckets seats and harnesses into a poverty spec 205 and thrashed that round a trackday.

Immense fun :y:

31st October 2008, 10:03
It really depends on how long you intend to keep it and how much you want to spend.

Ive spent an absolute potload on mine, and its no longer a 1.0 either.

Its been well worth it for me personally as ive done most of it myself and learnt alot. But i wouldnt do it again

kcsaxo
31st October 2008, 10:08
mild mods and then leave it alone as in the following:

wheels
lowered
backbox
colour code / dabadge
maybe interior
maybe lighting

anything else is wastage regarding performance or shiny bits for the bay.

i wouldnt waste my money doing up a 1.1. they look shit no matter what you do to them.they are never going to look any good so you might as well wait and save up for a vtr or a furio at least in my opinion

if you wanna mod a 1.1 do it
i had a 1.1 that id done into a track style kinda thing
tbh was pretty useless compared to similar spec vtr/s but was really fun to drive and against a standard vtr it wasnt too shabby

PinkPrincess
31st October 2008, 12:23
Nothing wrong with a 1.1 for your first car.
And if you wanna do little bits to it so be it.

It's all down to a matter of taste and opinion :]

wouldnt say they 'look' shit as their are many examples of well styled 1.1's out there, especially with the trusty VT kit on them theres no visual difference to the higher spec saxos. now to say that they will always be 'slow' will hold true.

maddison_vts
31st October 2008, 12:24
thats just your opinion, the 1.1 can look good as long as you don't try and make it look loke something it isn't.

tbh moding a 1.1 is fun
and if you stay with saxos half the stuff you have n the 1.1 can be transferred to a vtr/s at a later date so i say do it

Danr

I've always thought whacking a VT kit on a poverty spec is a little silly! That's just personal preference though.

They can look really nice with some subtle mods.

I think there is point in doing up a 1.1... I'd much rather have a good looking slow car than an ugly fast car (not syaing vt*'s are ugly though of course!). The thing that makes it worth it for me is the fact there's NO way I could afford to insure a VT* so making my 1.1i look nice is the next best thing, until I can afford something quicker. Then it will just depend how much I love the car as to whether I put a new engine in or just buy a VT* :)
