hmmmmmm probably not illegal if your not driving it a lot but if it can be proven that you use the car more than your mum you could get in trouble.

i very much doubt you will be insured on any car upto 25k at 18 third party. it will most likely be in the small print that you have to be over 21 or 25.
it will probably be best just to ring and ask rather than reading all the small print.
you dont have to tell them you will be using it all the time, just as in general if you can drive other cars.

i pay extra for 3rd part cover on other cars, phoned them up to ask about age an they said its usually 25 an over when your fully comp but as i pay extra its ok at my age. Then again all i use it for is if i needed to use the gf's/mums/sisters car for a trip to the shop nothing more.

getting pulled in a car that isnt in your name usually is not an issue.
They will do a quick insurance/stolen check, long as your name pops up on the insurance and there is no stolen indicators, you wont have an issue... My missus mum is a road traffic cop so ive already asked her in relation to something similar.
Dunno where u found that about driving others cars at your age tho, the 4/5 companies i tried were 25+. Nightmare really, cos my sax drinks fuel as it stands, so i just wanna borrow the others halfs motor!

yeah i got told by a mate it was 25+ an i pooped myself as i realised i was payin extra for it so phoned up an they said i was fine at my age as i was on a different type of policy an payin extra to drive other cars 3rd party aslong as there insured

you should read the small print on your insurance ;) if the engine has so much power you're not covered at all on the car.
Also hope you know you arnt going to make a fortune been in the RAF, you still pay money out while you are there, on food and living and stuff... its not just every weeks wage into the bank untouched

im with quinn and i drive my old mans 535i, ive been pulled in it for lookin ... to young in a flash motor, and if you explain they seemed fine with me about the hole thing. give it ago, but the only thing is like ppl have said if they can prove your the main driver etc then you'l get screwd. make sure the m3, s3 or wotever u buy is registered in your mums name obviously aswell. but like i said ive got away with it. best of look

NEVER, guess im going back with quinn then

3rd November 2008, 15:59
with quinn the only restrictions are are that its not a commericial vechical or van, and it has to have tax and mot, no seperate insurance is needed on it, no age limits or power limits tho and u can get this cover on a tpft policy not just fully comp which is weird, my mate owns a 1.2 punto and an mr2 turbo thats how hes done it, and its fully legal technically but the mr2 isnt covered if he crashes as its third party. ive checked this alot and trust me its true, which is bad because every 17yo can drive m3's etc if they knew about it :S
