View Full Version : 106 owners - what's the deal?

I'm not one to stereotype but what's the deal with 106 owners? As of late, I've had wanteds up on a few 106 forums and have contacted a few people regarding possible sales.
Time after time, I find myself logging back on and finding patronizing/ condescending PMs in my inbox. What's the crack with that? Fair enough, the offer might not be what they're looking for but a little courtesy costs nothing. I'd rather pay the extra £70 and order a new kit then give them my money. Maybe it's just me.

Pffsh.
I had a 106.
I joined the owners club.
and left.
Pedelstall culture.
I cant be arsed to climb up there just for them to go "why didnt you start with a GTi".
All about turning up at their meets in a 2.2 litre turbo Saab and saying "What Gti? Got rid of it, was slow"

In my eyes, no. The item was up for sale at £225 collected or £250 posted.
I offered the guy £230 posted which I thought was pretty fair considering I sent a 15KG exhaust the other week for £8 using DHL. Guess not. :n:

I've noticed a problem with 106owners in this aspect as well ... Not so much a problem with the club staff as such but many of the club members seem to think that 106's are the be all and end all.
When I bought my VTS loads of them would question why I didn't get another GTi ... But the fact of the matter is, VTS's are so much more value for money.

106s are the be all and end all. :p Jokes.
Amen to the VTS are better value for money, all the Saxo range is, thats why I signed up on here, looking for a VTR, ended up with another 106 though.
Im on 106oc, and have been for a bit now, tend to get along with most people on there, and the only PMs I usually get are people asking me something lolz.
£230 sounds like a valid offer though mate from £250, mind me asking what it was?

106s are the bellend all. :p
dont you like it?
i use it now and again, some seem alright others seem cocks, cant comment on the banter
i went on there asking about 24mm arb and got why do you want one, it will be too much just on springs
at no point did i mention what set up i had, quite a few people sayin this and that, nothing what i asked was answered ended up an argument between themselves

Banter? There aint really much, thats one of the things about this place, there's more 'spam' that helps the community feel closely knitted, if ya like.

I dont know if it is about 106 owners in general but i remember PGTI (iirc) being seriously uptight. You needed a reason to sneeze and my forum name (joeblow) was removed after 1/2 years for being offensive?!

sounds like PGAC.
that club died a big death and lots of other clubs came from that.
iirc its was one of the main reasons mr orange set up 106Moaners.
overall there doesnt seem to be alot of abuse on there, and the for sale section moves at a silly pace.

Im on 106oc and quite frankly i think its alot better then sax-p
I find 106owners alot more helpfull, And i think Saxp is mostly made up of "spam"
granted both sites have there positive and negitives, but everyone has different opinions dont they.
And tbh i think its abit guttless to start a thread slatting a site just because a member refused an offer you made them......

Yeah ... I've never seen a thread on Sax-p commenting on how good Saxo's are compared to 106's ...
I find Sax-p alot better for banter as well ... just seems so serious over there.
But I have met some top people through that site ...

Thats the one, havent even tried to go on it for years. Almost every section was locked unless you were a member.

yep and there was also the whole politics of the setting up of FCS and payment of tickets with membership etc....
Was one of the main clubs a few years back, it died a death quite fast.

I know that Colin who uses 106owners has got a properly set up GTi Turbo which is running 260+ BHP at the wheels ... Dean on there also is currently building another GTi Turbo which might even put more power down.
Edit - Same Colin as olee mentioned ...

andy L was 275ATW iirc from supercharged 1.6 16v.
i see lots of 1.1 progress threads etc... there doesnt seem to be to much of a ur not a gti so it doesnt matter.
although my project vtr thread has been sniffed at despite the spec being longer than most owners arms lol

I'm not really miffed in the slightest that my offer was refused... I'll most likely find what I'm after cheaper than that. :) The thing that annoyed me was his attitude.

I had that when i was selling torsion bars, despite the fact they were brand new pugsport ones a member got arsey when i wouldnt sell them for £120 lol!
then another dude got the arse because i sold my manifold to someone who was going to pay more lol
sadly you get it on all forums. I wouldnt say 106Moaners has the worst of it tbh.

It was nice of them to steal one of my technical guides with pictures that were linked to my photobucket, that said specifically on the guide not to copy without my permission, putting my photobucket account over it's bandwidth limit several months running, and posting about it in a childish manner making out they were cool for stealing my guide.
i cut the links and changed the folder name to 106ownerssuckdong.
That is all.

best thing to do if someones stealing yor photos is to upload some porn to teh same location with same file name, then next time they read the guide :D

Whenever people post on there now about Saxos being a lesser equivalent to the 106 most of the time there's people explaining that they're the same car, the reason that is usually given as to why they said it is usually cause they prefer the looks of the 106. I've seen it on here people saying they prefer the looks of the Saxo over the 106, so thats the same thing as what happens on here.
And tbh i think its abit guttless to start a thread slatting a site just because a member refused an offer you made them......
Amen.
VTEC-Saxo, the lad whos selling the supercharged VTR engine didnt start off supercharging the 1.1 engine, it was a VTR engine standard, same as mine. ;) :p
