Very good cars. keep their value well :)

4th November 2008, 12:32
worth buying one as their super fun to drive.

if you have the extra cash then look for an ek9 :y:

same look but different extras and more power. the ek9 is the jap import version compared to the jordan being made for the uk market

I like them. Have a chinese mate, and all his (young side of the) family have civics/jordans. Some real tidy examples.

Will always hold there value due to only 500? being made...

Tony
4th November 2008, 12:35
I imagine they will be quite rare now due to limited numbers and a few being wrapped around trees.

I think it was mainly aesthetic changes over a standard VTi?

As said go for an EK9 or ITR?

160 bhp
1.6 16v
Yellow
Lush yellow and black and interior
Only 500 made

Way less then that now

All jordans are yellow and they will more than likely wipe the floor with a vts and will pretty much put a vtr to shame without breaking a sweat

love them, not as fast as the type r. And rare!

Expensive for what they are though.

Seen a minter with 22k go for over 7k a few month ago.

Dont think they are quicker then a VTS off the mark TBH

Why create this thread it just makes me want an EK9 again :(

Seen quite a few at santa pod. Not seen many of them break into the 14s. A vts can easily. You can argue shit driver but there was 3 different ones in one day, all with filters and exhausts, all running low 15 secs. I wasnt impressed

Ocego_VTR

very good cars imo, i would prefer one over a VTS due to VTEC and they are tuneable.

was going to get one but am opting for an ep3 civic. the ek's are lovely but getting too old for what money theyre asking, plus its more on insurance being imports.

my mate has just bought an integra DC2 after owning an Ek9. Says the Ek9 is faster than the teg. And his Ek9 wiped the floor with my vts. And tbh to 80 my celica was struggling.

ek9 is a bit over the top on insurance, and my one i might buy is in mint condition

VTi Jordan's are nice, a little flat lower end but like all VTEC's give them a thrashing. Hard to find versions with lower miles..

4th November 2008, 21:22
EK9 CTR- very nearly got one before the Accord but the insurance companies wouldn't talk to me as it was an import. I was actually speaking to the import company and getting shipping organised for a std white one for 5k, but then found out I couldn't insure the bloody thing, so sadly EK9 didn't happen.

Went for the Accord and looking back I'm glad I did, better alrounder tbh.

Yes there is plenty of cars i would like, but insurance won't allow.

EK9 is in the same insurance bracket as a Escort Cossie if i remember. much rather the cossie!

I Sold My Saxo VTS and bought a Civic Jordan, amazing car would have it over the Saxo any day of the week, alot more comfortable, turns heads and they are much rarer than an Ek9 only 500 Jordans ever made as opposed to the thousands of EK9. Dont get me wrong EK9 is on another level to the Jordan. VTEC alone is a reason to buy 1.

Heres Pictures of My Jordan

Of course I hit VTEC. The Jordan is 2 heavy for what it is and u have to thrash em to get em movin. And as Steve said, I had an EP3 Civic Type R, and sold it as its not as much fun as a VTS, and not as quick point to point, never mind the handling issues. Only type r or civic i would have now is the EK9.

maddison_vts
4th November 2008, 22:10
don't really know an awful lot about hondas apart from their lack of torque, but i've never really thought much of them as i can beat the ep3 and the ek9 in my vts.
i did use nitrous against the ek9 though.

would still rather buy a saxo for a few grand and stick a nos kit on it for £300 rather than buy an ek9 for 6k which is what the guy i raced paid for his.

If a VTS was racing a Civic wouldn't it have to be in high revs to stand a chance? Well same thing applies to the Civic, just because they are more powerful it doesn't mean they can win in 3000 RPM.

I haven't drove a VTS before but from what I gather people from here say that the power kicks in after 4500 RPM which is pretty much similar to a Civic.

DC2 i think are group 18...not as fast as a Ek9 but less of a boy racer look compared to the 9.

Either way if your under 20 with no, no claims you will be looking at 2k+ for anything over a grop 14 depending on area.

I pay £2700 tpf&t. Next year when i am 21 and have a years no claims i am looking at £1400-£1900. My mate who just got his DC has just retook his test after beuing banned. But he is 20 with no, no claims and down as driving for 7 days or something like that and he is paying £450 a month tpf&t.

leeroybrown

Depends on what model you actually get

DC2 uk version is something like a group 17

DC2 imported version is a group 20

Same goes for a DC5

Group 18....his is the import so he will be paying more purely because its an import. But i dont think insurance groups change weather its an import or not, you just get charged more.

Jordan is the better car but its slightly off the pace of a vts.

local 1/4 mile day a couple of years ago there was a Jordan running mid to high 15's. In my vts i was consistently running very low 15's.

Jazz
5th November 2008, 20:33
EK9 is not quicker than DC2. And despite what the speedo says, a standard EK9 won't do anything near 160 'real speed'. Its still only a 1.6 N/A. Anything near 140mph would be a massive achievement with that tiny engine.

There is a misconception that the EK9 is better than the DC2. This is not true, otherwise Honda wouldn't have bothered make the DC2 lol.

Its just that the EK9 is certainly the most impressive N/A 1600 production hatch performance wise.

My mate has had both and currently has a DC2, I think he should know. both have been JDM so have higher BHP than the uk versions.

And who ever said 160 in a Ek9, are you having a laugh. Most 2 litre turbo cars dont get near that. But the Ek9 has the best power to weight ratio out of an standard car i think....

kcsaxo
6th November 2008, 12:10
that dc2 is sweet, only thing that puts me off those cars is the galaxy-mileage they have all done. despite good engines the chassis and all the rest will be worn by now.

VTR-98

Thats why you buy a JDM. There wont be any rust and most have very low miles. i.e 60k and on that engine its nothing.

The Ek9 Civic is 185bhp from a 1.6 VTEC

there nice cars, my mates got a mint standard one, i think there a bit over rated though and there expensive for what they are, i know there rare but still expensive considering you can buy a civic vti which is the same apart from colour, leather interior, wheels and a few other bits, for around 2500-3000plus.
