Hey people :)
I'm looking to get a 3" piper backbox, just wondering if anyone has got one of these with a standard centre section?
Wondering if the sound will be any different to a standard backbox?
Many thanks

100% be deeper down, why not fit a straight through and leave the cat in like i did, best sounding exhaust i ever had, only sold it as i was getting rid of the car.
Now keeping it, but rules are rules so i cant have the same again :(
For £58 you can get a new supersprint pipe from halfrauds, and if you know someone there get 15% discount :D

Ive got the mark1 engine so cat is under the car so would mean de-catting it :(

no no it doesnt.
Can get the cat back straight through pipe thats what i had and still have with my standard back box. :P
the manifold back and cat back pipe are the same price :panic:
Just ones longer than the other.

do it, best sounding exhaust ;)
With the back seats out when i used to do some novice rallying on some farm land it sounded the bollocks, its not really that loud sounds class especially outside.
its not loud and boomy, its a subtle rasp.
Unless cars cold then mine was really raspy.
Fuck i miss mine :(

The Catback system, this wont decat the car as the mark 1 engine has the cat underneath....
http://www.espdesign.co.uk/Exhausts-Citroen-Citroen_Saxo-Citroen_Saxo_(VTR)/c507_519_520_522/p109200/Piper_Stainless_&%2339CAT-BACK_SYSTEM&%2339_for_Citroen_Saxo_VTR_(1996-00)/product_info.html £285 which is a fair bit.
Just backbox ....http://www.espdesign.co.uk/Exhausts-Citroen-Citroen_Saxo-Citroen_Saxo_(VTR)/c507_519_520_522/p99230/Piper_Stainless_&%2339BACK-BOX&%2339_for_Citroen_Saxo_VTR_(1996-00)/product_info.html... £160 for the backbox on it's own.
Better sound with the Catback obviously but then again it is £120 more:)
Hope it helps
Edit: As steve says below if you get this centre section from kam http://www.kamracing.co.uk/manufacturers-543/supersprint-610/supersprint-centre-pipes-617/supersprint-cat-back-centre-pipe-saxo-74.html and then the above backbox, it will be cheaper than buying a whole piper system:) and sound better than just the backbox on its own. And will be about £220 for both so comes in a bit cheaper and still sound as good if not better:)

i had a decat supersprint and a piper box on my vts is was ace (deffo loud though) on motorway trips had to reaise your voice
then i fitted a manifold (piper 4-1) and it just sounded insane i loved it (still loud as hell)
leaving the cat in would mean its quieter and a bit raspier probably
deffo a nice looking and sounding box

I really cba with the hassle of a decat and don't want anything really loud.
a subtle raspy sound would be good.

Get it done - swapping my Magnex system for a Piper is the best thing I've done... sounds insane. :D

with a cat in it should be fine tbh
mine was fine on motorway :D
yea mine was decat and stripped and tbh it made my brain itch after a short motorway run
used the centre and backbox on a 1.1 and it was still retardedly loud (at donny we db tested it it read 87db abd a scooby we used the tester on aswell read 94 but in track got flagged for 103db so mine was about 95db from a 1.1
on a vts with mani was probably 100+

Mine isn't too bad on the motorway... probably on-par with the Magnex. Resonates a little at 70 so you just drive a little under/ over that and it's all gravy. ;)

i have just ordered the piper backbox for now, going to try it without the supersprint centre first of all and then maybe get in the future if i'm not happy with the sound :)
thanks to everyone for your help and advice!

does piper backbox and supersprint middle section sound better with or without supersprint de cat pipe?

With the standard centre section and cat in place it isn't much louder, quite subtle really. With a de-cat in place, it's quite a bit louder although they still don't sound chavvy or anything. If a VTR revved to a decent amount it'd sound highly tuned from behind.
Best backbox you can get for a Saxo IMO, unless an OMP one fits as well.
