View Full Version : SAX - P does something different.

Guys and gals all over the world,
come togehter, RIGHT NOW>>>>>>> sing with me!!!!!
COME TO GETHER RIGHT...... ok i'll stop.
to the point...in the newsletter it was let slip that things could be hotting up on the meet front, i'm aware of jay arrangeing something at Silverstone but am not sure how far it has been taken.
NOW THEN NOW THEN, we need your thoughts. What would you say if SAX-P were to organise a weekend or fun and frolics, to follow the same kinda format as the first sax-p meet in Nottingham of activity and a stop over? and for the hardcore out there may be a stop over before too, so a whole...
Friday night stop over, Saturday activity, Saturday night out and stay over, Sunday go home format.</font></font>
NOW i'm not saying next week we'll be doing it, what i'm saying is in 3 months, could you have spare ££££ knocking about to do something like like this.
I know atleast half of the active posters on the site are students, so this could be a challenge for you -
RAID THOSE PIGGY BANKS</font>
Obviously it's up to you as to when you wanna come and go etc.
Down to the nitty gritty.
If you weren't able to have that kinda money, what kinda money could you afford, please choose from....
£30 - £50
£50 - £80
£80 - £100
£100 +
remember i'm not talking petrol too.....which brings me to my next point</font>.....
I cannot say most people live BLAH BLAH BLAH, what i can say though, is that
Nottingham</font> seems to be quite central, and is attacked at all angles by lots of big blue road on a map. SO it would be quite easy to get to.
Would people be willing to travel this far? Southerners i'm sorry, and northerners i'm sorry too, but this seems about the most fair way to do it?
This would be a weekend to remember</font> and something that will help move sax-p to the next level, what with Regional meet organisers and regional meets taking a bigger role in the growth of the community.
A lot of writing there, for a simple notion....
would you be up for a form of get together in and around Centrall-ish England costing a bit of money?</font></font>

30th August 2005, 22:15
damo - who said anything about it not being part of that.
once again, i'm getting ideas.
so what people really think, and i must say i agree, if we do something near christmas, it needs to be the christmas party with stuff to do too.
as in activity and christmas party??!
smileys/smiley14.gif
al_VTR
30th August 2005, 23:18
incorporating the christmas party sounds a good plan. would mean a lot more people get to meet others if they only come for the party. but then theres the opportunity of staying all weekend and doing other bits if people want to
i for one will be up for the whole weekend smileys/smiley4.gif

DevilDamo
30th August 2005, 23:34
the impression i got from your post was that this was going to be something organised as well as the christmas party. i know that if the party does go ahead, a central location (i.e. nottingham) will be chosen and would be something 99% of sax-p members will attend.
so... as we are getting ideas, things need to be cast in stone as it is around this time when places start to book up for christmas. or... the christmas party could be joined in with something over the new year? again, just suggestions. but i know there will be a few people who have already made plans on or over christmas and new year.

swimming (i can just picture it now... sax-p members in swimming trunks and bikini's on the next newsletter... hehe!).

how about... a sax-p adventure course like they used to do on...
http://www.c64gg.com/Images/K/Krypton_Factor_title.gif
and what a classic program that was. we could do something like... ab-seiling, rock climbing, etc... although those things are a bit pricey.
how about a day at silverstone testing sport and performance cars? rally day?
go-karting?

looks god alicia. they have everything there and that is the kind of thing i was talking about.
i took this from their website...
Manchester: 35 Mins
Liverpool: 35 Mins
Chester: 20 Mins
Warrington: 20 Mins
that is quite far up north. its fine for simo, etc... he may even know the place living only 20mins from it. im about 210 miles from it.
as this is something that may co-incide with the christmas party, the central location needs to be established.
ill have a quick look now at a central(ish) location.

210 miles is not really THAT far to travel Damo.
Notts is about 300 miles from me.
The adventure place 235 miles.
[edit] and they do paintballing as well.
DevilDamo
31st August 2005, 19:52
i know andy... that is why i have done a little research...
to arrange a central area for us sax-p members, i have taken two areas which i think are a reasonable distance apart. these areas are mine (camberley, surrey) and scott's (glasgow).
i have put these two areas into multimap and it tells me that we are around 415 miles (6 hours 47 minutes) apart. so in my opinion, the middle would be around 208 miles, which is where this cheshire thing is (that alicia posted).
we could have our christmas party in or around manchester, which is about half an hour away and then co-incide it with this adventure course.

good plan damo, also check out the party bit on that website, it looks good.
and as for looking at the multimap thing LMFBO! © sax-p
fair though i spose, which is why i started by talking about the notts area, as that is kinda central to and doens't involve taking lots of different red and yellow and blue roads on a map smileys/smiley2.gif

im crap with geographical maps in my head. i though nott's was too far up north, but multimap proved me wrong.
looks like we are now getting things sorted. woo hoo.
oz... as you asked how much people could spend, etc... it wouldn't hurt giving that place a call to see how much we would be looking at, etc... it may be better (cheaper) to book soon(ish) rather than leave it nearer to christmas time. these kind of places welcome large groups so i also think a sax-p discount is in order.
as andy said, manchester would be well good to go out (even though manchester is one of britains toughest towns smileys/smiley5.gif ) there will be loads of places to stay and if we find that difficult, then we can all bunk up at simo's smileys/smiley2.gif
as there are a few sax-p members from that area, they may also know of large places to hire out for a christmas bash.
