View Full Version : Rapid Hot Hatches???
SaxoAlex
10th November 2008, 18:16
Thinking about my next car. Zetec S just really isnt quick enough :homme:
When this policy expires, i wanna part-ex the ZS for something really quick.
Got a quote for £1600 on a Focus RS which seems ok.
Im just struggling to think of hot hatches that will really impress me with their speed.
Being thinking along the lines of
Focus RS
Astra VXR
Corsa VXR
Clio sports, 197s, 1*2s
Civic type R, EP3
What else is there????
I want something modern, so no VTS'/106 gtis.
Will have about 10 grand to spend including what i would get for the ZS. Give me some ideas :y:

yeah dc5s are beautiful cars.
I will be 21 in january :y: insurance is still an issue, but i have found that more and more cars have become available to me recently.
Plus my new job is helping :y:
Does having an imported car affect the insurance dramatically?

yerr they do effect it lets say this my dad is 53 full ncb he did a quote on a impreza type r and it was £700 fully comp doing 6000 miles a year,
A uk version impreza is £450

Astra nurburgring is absolute sex aswell. Not over-keen on the megane 225.
Dont really want a massive car. Im kind of tempted by a corsa vxr and then getting one of the courtenay sport tuning packages with the money id save. http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/index.php?act=viewDoc&docId=84
The stage 3 package can get it up to 240bhp!!!

The stage 3 package can get it up to 240bhp!!!Never liked the Astra VXR's tbh... whats the point in all that power if it can't put it to the road, handling is mediocre too. Megane over Astra any day of the week.
SaxoAlex
10th November 2008, 19:07
yeah. i see your point cal. Do astras struggle to put their power down then?
Whats the old 182 like for nippyness? Iv always liked the 1*2s. I would love a RB gordini 182 cup like yours and go all-out on the mods lol. Cams, ITBs lol.
Hmmmmmmmmm. decisions decisions. I kinda think that i might regret buying a big car like a megane or an astra. I think that something smal and chuckable might be more fun.

Either a VXR corsa, Civic Type R or Clio trophy/2.0 sport
Jamie
10th November 2008, 19:46
Focus STs are good ( biased opinion lol) alot of bargains out there now :8( Astras struggle to get power down and handling is hmm different..
I couldnt insure what i wanted - M3 - scoob - evo so went for ST as after lots of test drives i found it to be the best out of the hatches i looked at (including Golf GTi 30th aniversary and Astra VXR)
My ST after remap (Dreamscience) is running around 270 BHP (225 std) cost me £320 to get that sort of bhp after xmas with a few mods ive been granted will be just over 300 very easy to get power out of and for some reason alot cheaper to insure over the VXR which isnt really any quicker..
Mikey
10th November 2008, 19:47
corsa vxr isnt a hot hatch. its a super mini mate.
astra vxr is good in a straight line, personally if insurance didnt matter i'd get a new shape r32 or a new shape audi s3.

EP3 or Clio 182/trophy would be my suggestion. Can pick up good examples of both for well under £10k and thay are great fun. DC5s are really good cars, but people ask silly money for them.

Mikey is correct, they are super minis' not hot hatches. It's to do with the size of the car though, not the performance.
