I get the 'clunk' between 1st and 2nd too, but the other changes are tight as a drum. Anyone have any ideas?

My biggest fear atm is my g/b and clutch going, although there's no signs of either failing, it scares me..........(and my wallet)...... smileys/smiley5.gif

well i've sorted out my gearbox clunk noise. jus grease up the inside ball of the gearbox with grease spray and spray up all the gear linkage underneath the car. my gear chaneg is smooth and peacful now smileys/smiley4.gif

well the noises ahs come back due to the rain annd when the car was driven it all got undernath and into all the joints agen. now im gonna buy a new set of links and grease them up well n put them on. i'll try and get some pics up if i can get my cam workin.

if u dnt know what to grease up jus jack the car up undo the 4 nuts that hold the heat protection plate obove the exhaust, move it around till you see thin bars, on these bers theres joint, grease them up good with grease spray. also do the same for the front part of the car by the gearbox itself. and inside the car the ball joint on the gear stick.

hopw that helps.

That makes a good read, I have this problem going from first to reverse or reverse to first but not in any other gears, Might actually make a very good how-to-guide

its a common problem on all sax & pugs! the gear mesh goes.... just keep it all greased up proper! i sumtimes find having the heaters on hot & then on the feet setting helps the gear change.....
