Battery light used to flicker at high revs...then it stayed on for ages so i checked a connection to the alternator which solved it for a week or so then went wales and its on most the time now. Connection may have come loose but its too cold for getting under the car today! Last night though the interior light started flashing off and on with it then staying on??? its like the alternator is charging them up, lol dyno effect??

anyone got any ideas?:wall:

Could be your battery starting to go, or as you said could be the alternator.

both seem to be bang on the alternator is less than 4 years old aswell...which would suggest it aint dying just yet...this problem is really confusing me now:wall:

the battery is charging off the alternator and hasnt gone dead even though ive had problems for a month or 2 now...so nothing is really wrong other than a bloody light flickering at high revs now:wall:

having this problem with my VTS aswell mate. I'm pretty sure its the alternator blet slipping that's causing the problems, however, i'm putting the car into the garage on monday so i'll let you know what the mechanic says.

Have you run a voltmeter across the battery terminals to make sure it is being charged correctly and so you're not just giving it a visual diagnosis?

I had a similar problem on my VTS. The battery light used to flicker. I had it tested and it was being charged fine. It turned out to be the connections on the top of the alternator had burnt out.

I dont want to get my own hopes up but I re-seated my terminals and its not happening so much now - infact only happens when heading close to the rev limiter which is something I don't often do (test purposes)

I wonder if it remains like this.

this problem is back, the other day I had to bump the car off.

what should I look towards trying / doing next.

Had the same problem on mine. Thought it was belt slipping but turnd out it was the alternator connector plug. The connections in here were corroded away. It didn't look bad enuf that it wud cause the batry light to flicker but we sanded the connection down to the metal agen and the problem is solved. Driving it for a month now and ent seen it agen once.

Seems like a common problem- i have this problem! I have a mk2 VTR, and when i take it anywhere near the limiter - the battery light flashes. Gonna try sanding the connector plug tomorrow...:y:
