I only like about 30 mins about from London and go there all the time and always find new things todo as there is so much to do. Icestaking starts soon in the city and that is really good todo with your GF IMO. I took my GF on Christmas Eve last year as a surprize she loved it.

As said, do not come to blackpool.

Unless you and your gf are the type to race around roundabouts to a busstop, pull over have some whitelightening, mug a few grannies, then end up in a cell for the night.

I'd got for London as well mate, Blackpools OK in the summer and the lights are OK in the winter but once you've seen them that's it. I think your gf will prefer shopping, nice restaurants/bars and maybe a night ride on the London Eye :y:

Took my girlfriend to London 31st October

Went by train, 2 for 1 vouchers to get into the attractions (REALLY HELPS)

Would recomend a week end, and say good bye to 1000 quid. Hotels, tickets and spending money. Meals and attractions. Could take 500, BUT i spent that in one day, not even in a hotel or shopping so :S

Really nice place, BUSY mind you but did everything we wanted, JUST!

Watch the pick pockets in Leicster Square and Covent Garden!

Again, not Blackpool. It is okay for day out to the pleasure beach (sometimes) or to see if the lights I guess.

What kind of atmosphere do you want? Lively or quiet?

Blackpool needs removing from the UK map

I used to take my ex here
http://www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/stngs-marriott-hanbury-manor-hotel-and-country-club/

Near enough to LDN too

If you your not wanting to travel far. I would deffo pick leeds as you will save alot on travel.

If your thinking LDN i would look at going aboard.

You can get nights out in Barca or Madrid with Premier Inn (i think) for £9 a night. Combined with cheap flights with ryanair or easyjet and you can have a weekend in spain for the price of a weekend in LDN.

Thats what im looking to do in the new year. Also fancy a trip to a Barca match.

City breaks are a better choice at winter, I've just come back from York (probably won't help, you live there!) and had a lovely time.

London is pricey, though can be done on the cheap. I've spent £100 on lunch in the city, but the best meals I've had have been cheap ones, Tayabs on Brick lane is awesome and at £9 a head for a slap up meal, insanely cheap. Tricky to make cheap romantic though.

Go to Europe instead. That said, with the euro up on the pound, Milan is on about a fiver for a bottle of Peroni. Makes London look cheap

CampDavid McDonalds Breakfast when we got there and Chineese in China Town (Lidl China) the restraunt was called or something. NOT RECOMENDED. FOOD WAS COLD AND SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE
