Typical Chelsea thinking they can walk a match no matter who they put on the field.

Clouds_mate

Nope. Chelsea will lose on Pens. I cant remember of a game in the last 5 years that Chelsea have won from Pens. Even pre season friendlys.

Typical Chelsea thinking they can walk a match no matter who they put on the field.

Not really look at the lineup they've put out

Cudicini, 140 Chelsea Apps
Ivanovic, 16 Serbian Apps
Alex, 27 Brazil Apps
Belletti 23 Brazil Apps (Lampard 25),
Bridge, 31 England Apps
Ferreira,
Deco 57 Portugal Apps (Mikel 46),
Mineiro,
Malouda,
Drogba (Di Santo 68),
Kalou.

Subs: Hilario, Sinclair, Terry, Woods

Cant be arsed to fill them all in, but you cannot knock the side Chelsea put out. They are all top class players capable of beating any other team.

Championship team going to a Prem side are always going to up there game. Penalties are a lottery. And lets face it Championship -> Prem isnt that big a gap at times

Tupps
12th November 2008, 23:02
Champ - Prem isn't a massive gap no, but chelsea are one of europe's top sides

Shellz
12th November 2008, 23:02

Bet it's made someone some right money, if they had a bet on that!

In comparision to playing with each other in the last 2 seasons?. Showing there internal caps means nothing.

Chelsea fit starting line up..

Cech (didnt play)
A cole (didnt play)
Carvalho (didnt play)
Terry (didnt play)
Bosingwa (didnt play)
J cole (didnt play)
Lampard (sub)
Deco, Ballack, Essien (only deco played and was subbed)
Malouda or deco (usually deco when ballack or essien is fit)
Anelka or Drogba (couldnt say who we would play as drogba 'had to earn his shirt tonight')

We all know sticking 11 men on a field doesnt win games not matter of the players experience and with such a mix up like that you can say otherwise.

I think out of the 11 starting only 2 started against blackburn at the weekend. Big Phil showing his inexperience with picking a reserve team that is incompatable with each other week in and out?

I'm fairly sure the last time we won a penalty shootout was 5 years ago, in the Malaysia Cup against Newcastle (pre-season) and JT scored a fine spot kick that day, for the record. Since then, we have lost all of them. I suppose tonight was just another classic case of us thinking we can beat them as individuals and not as a team. Got done. Similar to Charlton a few years back in the Carling Cup. Oh well.

Was at the chelsea burnleygame last night and burnley deserved to win fantastic effort by the clarets!! Only team i want to avoid now is arsenal, even though we gave them a good go last year!!!!

Haha just heard Burnley had a man sent off as well?

Tupps
13th November 2008, 13:41
Yeah was deep in extra time i think Robb ?

Arsenal had an average age of 18 the other night ? Pretty impressive apparently

Clouds_mate
13th November 2008, 13:44
he was sent off with 2 mins remaining lol.

Chelsea played with 10 men for about 55 mins in total.

jacko87
13th November 2008, 13:50
Yeah Arsenal were unreal, perhaps Chelsea need to bring more youth through? Espeically young English players. Sinclair looks promising but needs more League starts imo. Mancienne too, but I think he's leaving Chelsea anyway?

Clouds_mate
13th November 2008, 13:53
Its nothing to do with the youth lol. They put out a team that had never played together. They took off Drogba when 1-0 up and put on Di Santo who got taken off after 15mins. They only had 10 players on the pitch from there.

Chelsea are doing perfectly fine in the league. The goal difference speaks for itself. Maybe we need younger players? Maybe we need our currently injured players back?

Joe Cole
Ashley Cole
Essien
Ballack
Carvalho
Drogba (match fit)
