is there anyway to get rid of it? a rack swap or something? i hate power steering :(
can i just remove the fuse for the pump or will this kill the rack in the long run?

it would be cool if you had it on a switch so you could turn it off when driving and on when your parking

TBH I took the power steering resavior (sp) off on mine, and drained it - so there is no fluid, then removed the pump relay - not a problem and it has run like that for about 4 months.
though I am considering a swap over to steering from a 1.4SX or a 1.1 (non power assisted obviously)

is the not a power suply plug going into the pump, maybe even just cut on of the pump wires and join it with a switch ?

its a bastard to do you have to change the racks over or you will end up with heavy steering all the time which can become hell.
your best bet is to find a pre 1998 1.1 and steal the rack off of it but you will have fun getting it in .
you wont regret it though i want to get rid of mine because i just find electric power steering is rather twitchy once over a certain speed.
if you go on ssc im sure someone has written a guide on how to do it , also everyone who has done it pefers the drive of thier car too
hope this helps
