I am very rarely shocked by news I hear, but after reading the full article on the murder of Baby P I am lost for words. I can't imagine ever inflicting that damage on an adult - never mind an infant. And to think if anyone ever hurt either of my boys I would not be stopped until the guitly party met their bloody death.
This got me thinking, what penalty will the 3 guilty parties receive for this atrocious crime, and will it ever be a justified penalty.
The post-mortem examination revealed Baby P had suffered:
• Eight broken ribs and a broken back, with another area of bleeding around the spine at neck level.
• Numerous bruises, cuts and abrasions, including a deep tear to his left ear lobe, which had been pulled away from his head.
• Severe lacerations to the top of his head, including a large gouge which could have been caused by a dog bite.
• Blackened finger- and toenails, with several nails missing; the middle finger of his right hand was without a nail and its tip was also missing, as if it had been sliced off.
• A tear to his fraenulum, the strip of skin between the middle of the upper lip and the gum, which had partially healed.
• One of his front teeth had also been knocked out and was found in his colon. He had swallowed it.
I say bring back the death penalty. What's your opinion?

Bring it back as well, would do this country a load of good.
Life for a life is only fair, why should they be able to spend 10/15 years in prison then continue with their life after they've taken someone elses. It's bullshit. They go in at 20, come out at 35. They've got a good life to live.
Would free up a fuck load of prisons as well and stop wasting tax payers money. It's not a bad life in prison, apart from the occasional anal beating from big tyrone.
Same with rapists, thiefs etc. Cut off hands/dick - won't happen again. The day this country actually lays down some harsh punishments for breaking the law is the day when people will stop and think whether it's actually worth the punishment.
Even more, as for those kids who killed that Jamie Bulger (I think), they got given new identities and relocated, what the fuck is that about. Publicly air their names, let them stay at the same address and see how long they live, that's justice.

goverment is to scared to bring back death penalty as they often put inocent people in prison, so imagine what would happen if they hung an inocent person. Although it would work for people who admit to the crimes. But saying that i can't see many people fessing up if they know there is a chance there gonna hang

that is horrible, dont know how anyone could do that to their own child...or anyone elses for that matter

need their head taken off
Sentences in this country are way too soft as they have nowhere to put people, death sentence would help.

i say torture them!!!!!
you joke but death penalty is a very easy way out....
it would have to be used in only cases were in was 110% certain...
and just by reintroducing it it would act as a massive deterant when it came to crime...

how could someone do this physically? i do not have any kids of my own but alot of my mates do and when im with my mates and there kids i play fight with them and have a laugh and try teach em stuff (not how to steer in my mates glanza v at the age of 2 honest) how could anyone hurt someone so happy and defenseless? its disgusting and it makes me physically sick that someone could do this to a child, sorry a baby for that matter! i dont think these people should be killed tbh no, i think they should be locked up an put through the exact same injuries as the poor child went through and just torcher the sick people for the rest of there natural lives. and now and again put there head in a vice till you can hear there head crunch! to some it up nicely i think death is too good for these evil people. appauling tbh

as already said death penalty would be a good thing to bring back for many reasons main ones being victim has revenge and would clear the system of alot of bad people and may put murderers who plan killings off commiting the crime however it does drag alot of problems with it at the same time, as already said innocent people would be killed for sure with the current state of the system plus who would decide on what crimes warrent death ? murder? manslaughter? rape? etc death penalty could be an answer but the system needs to be developed better to be able to convict less inocent people of crimes before it gets reinstated imo now im bored typing so i shall stop now lol

pour petrol on them and burn them for a while then cover them in salt,
torture them the same way they did to a poor defenceless child,
i just dont understand how you could do that, they are seriously fucked up.

I don't know about death but I do think they should be made to work off there conviction to pay for there time behind bars. If they are not willing to work they should just stay locked up until they do or possibly they should be made to work for there food so no work no food. But that may be taking it to far.

No. The people who did this are hatefull. I actually can't bare to read about it it's so hideous. I have a 2 year old nephew (near the same age as Baby P) and it really has reached my limit of comprehension, more so than any genoside or torcher story has ever done previously.
I honestly believe that no matter what the death penelty is always a bad move.
The death penelty places a value on life. It says "If you do something this bad, we will kill you". It reduces the value we hold for human life from infinate to a managable amount.
In the UK we are lucky that we don't have the death penelty, we have a huge value for life (it is no coincedence that the death penelty and poor health care are common bedfellows) and that means we actually live in a much safer, better place.
I refuse to allow some week, hideous child abusing cunts take away the value we have for life.

be a 5 year sentence to takeaways, ps3's, widescreen tv's, sky tv everynight.
then they'll get out, write an autobiography and make millions.

They should serve at least 25 years, probably full life.
The press has a charter to stop them making a penny out of this which generally works. They should, and hopefully will, spend the rest of their life in prison

I agree. But legalised state murder is never, ever the answer

I dont know how anyone could do that to a baby. Maybe to colins GF though.
Death is an easy way out for them, id just put them in prison and tell the prisoners what they did.

I can't see the death sentence helping at all.
A life sentence which means life should be imposed. I also feel that we should have prisons which are actually prisons as such. From what i hear in the paper (which may be rubbish, the british tabloids are known for nonsense) they do seem to get an easy life. If prisons were similar to the one over in texas where they work all day and wear pink clothes then people would think less about comitting the crimes again.

If you take someones life, they take yours.
How is that unfair? I'm not on about 'oh he stole my Nike's hang him'. But a life for a life is how it should be. What right do they have to come out in 15 years and live the rest of their life after they killed someone. Either that or put them in prison for 'life', until they die in there.
But then still put them in prison for life, it's still a pretty easy life, as Dan said. If they go into prison it shouldn't be about re-abilitating them or whatever the fuck that is, because it probably works on 1/10 people. Make them work to stay in there, give them minimal things. A floor and nothing else is all they deserve.

ok so your all wishing death upon someone....hmmm killing someone for killing someone else? two wrongs dont make a right...a life for a life isnt really the answer.
No death penalty ta.

I know they didnt just kill him but I'm just saying that people wishing death and sentencing someone to death is just as bad as the killer themselves...how anyone could live with that I dont know..as that makes you a murderer

IMO we should deport them to prisons what you see on the T.V programme "worlds toughest prisons" and they should serve the rest of their life in there.

i dont believe they should.
yes they took away a babies life, but who are we to say they should die too? surely that would make us murderers as well?
I believe that they should be given life, and i dont mean 10 years or somethin, i mean life, at least 40 years.

At the end of the day, as soon as prisoners find out what they've done.
They will get abused in prison.. They won't have an easy sentence, far from it tbh.

Agreed, probably end up either getting murdered in prison, or topping themselves because of all the abuse they'll get
