hi all, my car went in for an MOT this morning, and just got a phone call like 10 mins ago saying all is good except the break pipes are corroded...

Then i ask how much to change these and he says about £470 tops... i really dont have that kind of cash spare at all.

Is it really that much?????? am i best off phoning garages to see if i can get cheaper? or is it really that much and im not going to see much cheaper else were...

also if anyone knows any good garages around in Manchester let me know! haha

£470 seems quite excessive.

Agreed, find out what's corroded exactly then ring around other places - seems a bit too steep that price to me like

do it yourself.

About 50 tops for unions, lines and line making kit.

Just a ball ache and time consuming to do.

Those prices are ridiculous!!

How mechanically minded are you? ie have you got a brakeline spanner, know how to bleed brakes and have a friend that can give you a hand?

I tell you now even getting brand new brake lines from citroen which already come bent to shape with all the fixings attached ready to fit your car will be less than half the price- i could even find all the part codes and exact prices for you if you want.
