Only starting now and again

Hi all

I have a Saxo Westie MK1, and it runs perfect but just went to jump in it, Went to start it up but when i turned the key all the way, instead of it going like " chechechehcehcehe" all i had was a very faint humming noise, and as if something was spinning around. so tried again and still nothing. But then 3rd tiem lucky it worked and worked again when i just tried it. Its as if i need the "chehchehchehc" noise to fire itup. Any ideas? thanks

sounds like your starters not engageing with the flywheel, try stripping the starter and give it a clean out, might need to be reconditioned, cheep enough job to get done.
