Im in desperate need of changing the clocks/dials on my Saxo.

Currently they are still the old 1.0 clocks which come with a clock instead of a rev counter.

What do i need to do/how do i go about getting some VTS clocks in and getting the Rev counter to work?

Is it possible to fit the later digital clocks?

Are there any detached plugs at the rear (would be nice) which i simply plug in the correct place on the S clocks to get it all working?

If its much more complicated than this please do share your wisdom.

I read something previously about some obscure way which involves your ECU, but having a standalone this is not of any help to me.

Any advice is most welcomed.

theres a guide somewhere mate, a lad with a 1.0/1.1 made it but his name escapes me. Its basically a case of chopping a few wires i think, im pretty sure you have the wiring there, it just needs re-arranging.

Id be very very surprised if you can get MK2 clocks to work though. You could always go custom and get an aftermarket rev counter set into the dials or similar, would be different and a lot of them come with shift lights

Cheers Ben, thought it would be a longshot with the mk2 digital dials, but old ones are fine.

Had a look at a few aftermarket rev counters which are all reasonable, but as ive already got some mk1 s clocks im keen to try fitting them if theres some fool proof way without savagely killing the whole lot (sods law something will happen) rather than just having a boring clock

harv is the user i *think* was wiring up a rev counter mate

cant see you being able to fit mk2 as i believe they are ran from the ecu and you have stand alone, plus there are more plugs to go on the black of the mk1's i believe

Cheers Matt, looks like Mk1 clocks are the only option then given that ive got the stand alone.

Might have to just go at it, take the old clocks out and compare plugs etc. The VTS engine loom etc is all hooked up fully so wherever the signal comes from on the engine -> engine loom must end up somewhere.

thats the guide ben_saxo and yates are onabout

Basically strip one wire at the ecu, run a wire to another wire on one of the plugs behind the clocks and hey presto, revs.
Dont think you can fit the digital dials cos they only have 2 plugs on teh back iirc, earlier dials have 5 plugs. :y:

Earlier saxo`s have 5 plugs (mine does)yours will have 2 I think the easier option as said is to get a pod mounted gauge.

Cheers Tim, id seen that guide but unfortunately its not of any use to me as ive got a standalone ecu.
