Just bought my vts a white 109,000 mile 1998 car.
The car is standard from what i can see, except for a strut brace. It absolutey flies this car, I cannot beleive a standard 1.6 is this fast.
I currently also own a mapped R26 megane & have just sold my 380 BHP EVO, I have also had a string of clio 172's & 182's.
But this VTS really impresses me.
What should i expect the rev limit to be set at ?
seems to be 7700 ish

7200 i believe
7700 indicates that its had its rev limiter raised, i know they are out a little at times, but not going to be 500rpm out.
did you get a history with it? possibilities that its been cammed, ever took the cam covers off to see if it has anything ingraved on the cams?
stil in contact with old owner? could ask them if they have done anything to it

7250 standard rev limit on the vts. Coule be superchipped or simply had the rev limit raised as Matt said.

Thanks for the answers, the car has loads of bills with it but most of the are nonsense. Just loads of silly stuff like door locks & cats etc.
The air filter is std, the plugs are std, exhaust std, manifold still has black cover thing on it.
Can't find any stuff to do with any engine mods, I got the car from Manic motors brother. All he has done is the cam belt & oil for me before i collected it. Its probably just that it feels fast but there seems to be no limiter at 7250 rpm at all.
The power surge starts at about 4500 & realy gets strong at 5500 rpm.
I have bought this car to use on track days.

chris car was running standard manifold
but he said manics bro, cant remember his name, canny lad was chattin to them both up at croft, said he had his own car, so its probs that one, i dont think its the one your thinking of mate, as its not standard and its not white for a start, its half and half ;)

You have a re-map ecu, Standard rev limit on the Saxo-vts is 7250rpm.

Nice avatar !
Maybe the clocks are out , all i can imagine is that if this is standard tuned will be great.
My cousin has a 123d bmw he collected the car with me, we had a little play on the way back. The saxo did quite well, but the 123D can really shift.
