16th November 2008, 23:46
Yeah they bought the first pair and they made it slower so spent a further £600 and bought track tires I think.
Pieface
16th November 2008, 23:47
They spent 3k on Brakes
2.5k on Suspension
£600 on wheels and tyres
£600 on more tires
I think 3k on the engine stuff
Something like £5.2k on Car
About £20 probably on Splliter
Seats, free from other cars
That sounds like it is it.

Aye. Loved the Ambulance right behind it.
Did anyone else notice that they were being lazy though? The editors. When they showed Stiggy racing with the buckets in, on the outside shots he had the buckets on, but it went into an interior shot they were leather seats he was sitting on...

Thought this eppisode was great.
Loved the blender
Although I think the money for the Renault project could have been better spent.
Brakes didnt have to be that fancy? although I do agree quite a decent set were needed.
3k on engine work? Seems a bit extreme for a skimmed head and inlet?
Also I would have just used nitrous like Clarkson said originally!

no but well spoterd

17th November 2008, 00:32
they should have absolutely stripped that renault out to death
couple of seats
good suspension , lower profile tyres
and then either turbo it or nos
think it would have done a lot better then tbh
if they stripped it fully the brakes would probably be good enough with the lower profile tyres and better suspension... there's a lot of heavy shit in those that can just be taken out

lol @ the blender, im sure the neighbours would love me if i had one of those.
However, Top Gear is meant to be a car program and imo its gradually becoming more and more of a chat show. Don't get me wrong itsstill good and does make me chuckle but they seriously need to go back to raging cars round the track and comparing every day cars like they used to

i do agree with that, there is the funny bits but still bit too much chat and bits like that, lets get some more proper challenges in again!

I noticed that!
Yeh a mini would have killed the evo but the whole point was that the producers picked the car!
Ive never seen one in real life tbh!

they didnt strip it very well..i saw door cards and dash still in the car, plus all the other stuff
they could have done a lot better imo, but it doesnt seem to be really about the cars now - just all out entertainment
would have loved to have seen a saxo for them to mod though ;) allthough they would have probably not done a good job

just watched it on iPlayer ( busy at work but can't be arsed tbh).
MINT
I think it's pretty evenly balanced between cars and entertainment now tbf, they will do the classic challenges they always do.
Do not be swayed away from Top Gear!lol 12 seasons don't arrive by being a crappy show so i doubt they will go downhill now

I noicted that, Top gear nerds :y: lol
Thought it was a good show, although agree with the comments about it needs to be a bit more of a car show than a chat show.
When they interviewed Mark wahlberg, although a cool actor, wasnt really car related, dragged on abit i thought.
And richards shirt on the news part, what the hell ? lol

I loved that question on that Chair, "Are you going to make a bigger one for fat people"
And "I don't have the heart to say it to him but we have these back in England, there called Wheelchairs."

I thought the blender was funny, Mark Walhberg was good.
Cant believe no-one has mentioned Mika Haikonnen even though that wasnt really the best part of the show (think i just answered my own question), but watching James in a rally race was quite entertaining.

any body notice it had a twin exhuat on to start with vxr tips then at the end was changed for a different one ?Yeah i noticed that, but at one point clarkson did say "with my exhaust" but it was pretty quiet and they didnt cover it very well at all, they are missing vital motor information to replace it with "witty" one liners etc, poor show on that one.

thought the renault feature was pretty good. deffo could of spent the money they had better. stripping is free and all they removed was seats and changed the glass roof panel to perspex which the taped on by the looks of it!
agreed, R1 engined mini ftw!! with a good supsension and brake set up on it would of cained tha evo round the track i reckon!!
