mileage 2bh VTS is probably faster and more ecomical

Its difficult because your VTS has decent mileage, but 100k isn't alot for a 1.8T either.

Performance wise your VTS will be a bit quicker

i wouldnt
even though 100k is not high for the gti, if your saxo is sound, id keep it

apparently not more economical! wouldnt mind the golf refinement too be honest, not too fussy about the pace.

8.2 seconds to 60 will be enough, working that turbo too ;)

I dunno, i live on a farm. Bumpy lanes + vts ftl

As standard the Mk4 GTI is like a boat to drive and they run out of steam at about 5k, horrible power delivery in my opinion. With Eibach ARBs and a bit more boost (ie, remap) they are fine.

The VTS would still be more fun though I think.

I'd choose a golf over a saxo any day personally.

i certainly would.

its probably worth more than your saxo and they are definately better cars.

100k is not a problem for the 1.8t engines

for luxury yes, for speed no. They are slow.

erm no they're not.

the 1.8t can be very quick.

250bhp is easily achieved with a ko4 turbo and remap which can be done for a few hundred pounds.

the 180bhp 1.8T make 210bhp just with a remap and the standard ko3s turbo

its quite easy to get big power out of these engines.

If you build the engine to 225 bhp S3/TT spec then with a proper map you won't be far off 300 bhp. Fun fun lol.

There is a 550ish bhp 1.8T Ibiza race car on ClubGTI that just won't die, it gets thrashed meet after meet and is still fine haha.

Even in the B5 Passat estate, the basic 150 bhp 1.8T will hit 60 in mid 8 seconds and somewhere the other side of 130 mph.
