The probation period for new drivers is 2 years....ok.
But does the 2 years start from when you gain a provisional or when you pass your test?
Cheers

May have to sell my car smileys/smiley19.gif
I got 3 points ( very unfair, may get them taken away ) so if i get 3 more in 19 months i get a 1 year ban smileys/sad.gif
And i don't drive fast and it wasn't for speeding smileys/smiley19.gif

NO NO NO YOUR ALL WRONG!!!!!
DONT PANIC GUYS, i had this worry a couple of weeks back so i enquired about it.
YOUR ALLOWED - 6 points, but then after the 7th point gets you banned. your allowed 2 tickets for example but after that, any points is a ban!!!</font>
So dont worry about getting 3 points, you can still get another ticket and drive!!!

I think thats what Chris is saying.
What with getting 3 points, he is worried about something stupid (as happened recently) happening again, meaning 6 points to his name.
Alot of insurance companies overlook 3 points (aslong as you declare them), but when you hit 6 points, your insurance premium may increase by up to 40% !! smileys/smiley3.gif

3 points does not really matter, as Al said insurance companies dont really care about 3 as long as you tell them up front, i got 3 points for summit stupid but i wouldnt sell your car, you can get 3 more points then you have to take your test again ! my mate got 9 points on his licence in 1 go about 6 months after he passed he had to take his test again, now he has a 2l corsa, fully kitted on 19's all mods declaid to insurance and he is only 18.

if u get 6 points in a retaken test and that, not sure about a ban
dandaman where do u get ur information from? if u get 6 points in the first 2 years of ur license u lose it, str8 up. its not seven points at all
every single police officer who pulls u over asks how long uve been driving and they always say to me u no wot happens if u get 6 points, and also ive got mates who have lost it cos of this
i wud find it harsh if u got 3 points for going thru a red light, if it was fully on then fair enuf but as u sed with the conditions and being on a corner i wud think u may get a fine

I got the letter mate.
Going through a Red Light is 3-6 points and up to £1000 fine. But you can take £60 and 3 points as a fixed penatly.

nasty, duno wot u can do about that, you could ask for a photo sayin ur not sure who was driving? if u cant c ur face then they cant give u points cos theres no proof its you...just an idea tho

that used to work, but now they will just give the points to the registered owner of the car, and yes it is 6points=12month ban plus test re-sit, not 7 at all.

you dont get a 12month ban that's wrong, you're licence gets revoked and you go back to where you first startedsmileys/sad.gif

The Road TRaffic (New Drivers) Act 1995
if you reach 6 or more penalty points within two years of passing that test (the probationary period) DVLA will automatically revoke your licence on being notified by a court or fixed penalty office. you will then have to surrender your full licensce and obtain a new provisional licence, drive as a leaner, pass the theory and practical test again in order to regain your full driving licence.6 or more</font>
Yates

thats harsh sean didnt know that.

6th September 2005, 20:50
So if i get 6 points all i have to do is get another provisional. Pass the theory and pass the practical?
Then do i still have 6 points?
Scott
6th September 2005, 21:09
you should have but not sure how exactly it works? cos how can you have the 6 points again, surely thats another ban then on the other hand how can the 6 points be thrown away smileys/smiley5.gif
Yates

must stay on ur license, if u think bout it ppl can get points on there license wen they dont even have a license, and ppl who get caught drivin with jus a provisional can get points put on it
