---RoBsTeRz---

Looking to get some short term work and was going to apply in all of my local supermarkets.... tesco, sainsburys, waitrose, CO-OP etc.

From experience what is the best 1 to work in and who pays the best??

Well ive worked for sainsburys and work at morrisons, they both treat you like crap, sainsburys is very strict at no talking and getting back from breaks on time, morrisons less so... Both pay minimum wage, i think most supermarkets do apart from aldi and lidel, apparently they get something like £7 an hour

I think they all pretty much pay around min wage.

I still see lads from my school in my local CO-OP that got part time jobs and ended up becoming managers and what not. Can make a healthy wage out of it.

lol am in the process just wanted to see which ones i should keep ma eye out 4.

I do have a mate that works at waitroses but they seem to be really strict. THey asked him to take out his peircings (2 in the ear) which is fair enough but then they said he has to shave before his next shift and get rid of his small beard/goatie.

lol whats with that!!!

Just started as a means to an end but iv progressed to duty manager and supervisor, and have just got put through a few hundred quids worth of courses, Personal licence, First aid etc etc. But if you can show your a good worker you can progress quite quickley within retail companys.

If you have worked in a bar you will have customer service and a good idea of how to deal with unhappy customers and also how to deal with age restricted products alot of places look for that.

yep they now pay £1 an hour extra on sundays... overtime is all flat rate aswell.

i liked working at sainsburys to a point, agree with the fact they help you progress if you are willing, i went from just working the shift (nights) to a supervisor then to shift manager within 9 months.

everytime i asked for i.d. i would say " i knew you were old enough, just wanted to know where you live" or say " So your over 16...... yours or mine?" and if they where much older i would just chat them up.

the best idea is to i.d. the 30-35 year olds, they take it as such a complement

the responses where classic

got the sack in the end :fcuk:

it was all good fun tho, just used to play cricket and football down the isles and throw stuff at eachother, always remember the time i was sitting in a trolly and a collgue pushed me very hard, i fell out the trolley and it smashed into the new wine display.
didnt go down to well if im being honest, although what finished my employment was when the boss said, "i dont think a career in retail is for you" i just replied, a job in retail is hardly a career, then stupidly carried on by saying im not that much of a failure.

didnt realise the guy took his "career" in retail so seriously!

but all in all, a bloody good laugh tbh.
