Hey guys!

Well my comp has went real dodgy tbh!

done virus scans, nothing has showed up, but i do get a view message boxes when i logg on with red crosses in sayin summit failed (had these for a while, all worked ok)

As of yester day, i CAN NOT view videos on such sites as yourtube etc, says i dont ave java, when i do and IF i try to downlaod as new version etc nothing happens.

Tried to system restore my comp, its just opens up a blank screen with the litle white box in the top left, the one you get when a internet page etc is not responding.....

So cant od a system restore.

Also, i can get onto my hotmail, see my list of emails but when i click, nothing happens!

I believe its some form of virus but god knows who!!!

Does anyone no how to jst totally delete EVERYthing on the comp and get it all reinstalled, to basically turn the comp back to brand new as such??

Or what the bloody hell could be going on??

Just as you can see i can write all this fine, go to dif sites etc, just cant view emails, cant do much in the control panel (tried to delete a user account, open the blank screen again...)

oh and it takes about 30-40 atempts of typing hotmail.com to even get the page to open!!!

Any help would be great :)

Format it ftw.

If you're on a HP, you can simply press F11 or something while it's booting and it will whipe it all back to factory for you...

Failing that, put your operating CD disk in (make sure it's booting CD then HDD) and pick format, delete the partition...etc

Rest is simple...

Go into BIOS,
change boot priority,
have CD-ROM as first priority.
Whack in your Operating system disk
Follow instructions for fresh install.

gogo.

Dose sound like a virus but with no disk isn't not gonna let you install as fresh.

What have you used to scan? Make sure they are upto date.. I'd use these tho:

Download & run/scan:
Windows Defender
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx

Spybot search and destroy
http://www.spybot.com/en/download/index.html

Reboot your machine & tap F8 at the boot screen should give you the option to start windows in Safe Mode - do that and run the above programs again see if it finds anything & post back

Do a full set of full system virus scan first off in safe mode (F8 at boot up before the windows logo loading screen). This will pretty much pick up anything that is on the system that is infected/invalid virus/malware/adware wise. This in most cases should sort the problem. Reboot the system and allow it to boot up normally, if everything is back to normal you should notice things working again as they did before the problem started.

I personally do it a different but the above way is the easiest and simplest to follow. The other way involves turning off system restore, but the above should work for you.

Doubly failing that you need to backup all the stuff you want/need, such as documents, music, files downloaded, and program setup files, then do as Karl said earlier, make sure boot priority in the BIOS is set as CDROM as the first boot device. Then follow the on screen instructions with the operating system disc in the cd/dvd drive. Easy as that. Have your cd-key handy as you will need to type this in in most cases.

after that it should be pretty much sorted, if you have a printer and the like you'll need to the disc for that also along with any software you had on it before hand. If it's a branded machine like Dell, HP and the others you should get most of the software from the CD's that came with the package. If not then you wont.

XP should pretty much install most things hardware without asking for a CD, anything that you add onto/into the computer at a later date will require the CD's that came with that particular piece of hardware/software. Windows update is also worth running and doing all the updates on there. Any Microsoft products like Office, Windows Update will pick up that you have them installed and find the latest security fixes and update to each program that it can.

Hope that helps. Sorry for waffling on!

lol if its affecting hotmail and youtube its more than likley a java update.
If your using internet explorer and having trouble installing new java etc then download firefox.
It will allow you to install java easier, simply click click click it does it for you.
That would be the best bet before formatting and resinstalling....
