I thought that would be good too. However you still have to put the disk in to prove you have the original, which isnt much of a improvement.

Or will it cut out the loud noise from it reading the disk?

Yep. It only uses the disc to authenticate when booting from the hard drive. Dont know about anyone elses 360 but mine sounds proper loud and shit when loading.
