I’d never been to bothered about all this cleaning stuff till I joined this site, I also know I have done damage to my paintwork due to my lack of knowledge on this subject, so over the last year I have built up a little collection, it consists of
Auto Gym - Quick Clear Screen Wash (irrelevant but still AG lol), Paint Renovator, Clean Wheels, Bumper Care, Super Resin Polish, Car Glass Polish, Leather Care Cream (for the range) Bodywork Shampoo and Intensive Tar Remover.
Meguiars - Tech Wax spray and a Clay Kit
Simoniz - Wash and Wax, Max Wax and Black to Black. (Is this stuff any good or should I just bin it?)
Autosol Metal Polish
My question is the waxing/polishing bits which do I do first etc. I’ve read a few threads on here but im still not 100%.
Thanks in advance x

simoniz back to black is quite good so dont bin it, applie it with one cloth so its quite thick (but not to much) then leave a few mins then wipe it off with another cloth,

when your on about bits to polish first do you mean pannles? or what order to applie things?

Tbh for just starting out, the megs and autoglym stuff is pretty good stuff!

I love the autoglym super res polish, and a few other autoglym products.

Just get some good cloths to apply/take off the polish, microfibers are good!

A good wash mitt, and a drying towl and you will be on the right lines!

Wash mitt (http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/lambswool-wash-mitt-wash.html)

Waffle weave towl (http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/poorboys-waffle-weave-towel-wash.html)

You may also want to have a read of this, gives you bit of an idea how to reduce the damage caused when washing the car etc!

Microfibre applicator pad for the SRP, foam applicator pad for wax (providing it's not liquid otherwise I'd use a microfibre jobbie). Remove with some decent microfibres - I find the Poorboys ones are decent. :y:

lol how long do you have to clean it???? its up to where you start i usually do the roof and work my way down and the wife starts on the bonnet or boot!!!!

do the inside first

wash it first using a 2 bucket method -one filled with just water for rinsing your sponge and the other filled with soap- using the AG shampoo AG wheel cleaner and do the wheels last

dry it off with either microfiber cloth or a chimoise(sp lol)

intesive tar remove where you can see tar spots - usually the lower half and the boot

give that a rinse with some clean water

paint renovator doing a panel at a time

once you've taken it off wipe over it with a lint free cloth or micro fiber cloth

AG bumper car is much better than back to black imo it just doesnt last car plan bumper wax is messy but last 10x longer

then AG SPR once you've taken it off you can put on a few layers and what i usually do is give it a final buff with a machine polisher .....its a halfrauds 240v so its nothin serious lol

or just use the Tech wax its really good
you can use the AG glass polish on the inside and outside of the windows!!!

imo i would wiat to clay you're car till after the winter!!!!

this is what i do hope it helps !!!

Using the stuff you’ve got, I’d probably do it this way:
Wash with your AG bodywork shampoo using 2 bucket method and a wash mitt. If you’re not claying then spray your wheels with the clean wheels and leave to soak while you wash the car.
Rinse, leave wet and use your clay kit (if needed, don’t do it every time, maybe every 3 months or so) You can use your Tar remover here as well if you need to.
Wash again using 2BM and rinse.
Dry with a Waffle Weave Towel (I use Poorboys)
Use your paint renovator if needed but again that won’t be every time. Apply with a foam applicator and buff with a microfibre towel.
Polish with AG SRP applied with a foam applicator and buffed with a MF towel.
Wax with your max wax using a MF applicator and buffing with a MF towel.
Bumper care applied with a MF towel, wiping with a MF towel if you want to.
Glass polish inside and out, lights, mirrors.
Autosol on the exhaust if needed.
I think that’s about it, might have forgotten things tho lol.
