If I was all you lot, I'd try and keep my tank full for the next few weeks, so if they go on strike, You've got the tank there if ya need it!
Is anit scarey when it goes on strike though... ya dnt have to look when ya crossin the road, because no one drives!

Motorists queue for petrol
Monday September 12, 01:28 PM
"Fears of another fuel crisis have already prompted a rush to the pumps.
Drivers in Yorkshire, the North East and parts of London have reported hour-long queues forming on forecourts.
Retailers - who describe trade as "brisk" - are calling for common sense at the pumps, saying there is no shortage.
BP, which operates 1,300 filling stations, said there were no signs that sales this weekend was abnormal. Texaco, with 1,100 stations, said business had simply been "brisk".
Ray Holloway, director of the Petrol Retailers Association, said: "Whilst I would accept that yesterday was a robust day's trading, we don't believe that we are seeing anything which equates to 2000.
"There is no panic buying and people should be aware that there is no shortage of fuel."
But supplies of diesel at an Asda store in Great Bridge, West Bromwich, ran out temporarily on Sunday in the rush to fill up.
Refinery blockades and motorway go-slows are predicted from Wednesday, as motorists demonstrate against soaring petrol prices.
They want Chancellor Gordon Brown to cut fuel duty to prevent petrol prices climbing above £1/litre.
The call is opposed by environmental campaigners who claim the real cost of motoring is lower now than when Labour took power in 1997."

they'll have to think of another way to get the tax on petrol dropped!

12th September 2005, 18:52
Will work, did before, ok not for long but they knocked it down a bit. There is no other way in doing it tbh, better this than sitting doing nothing about it. Which is why it is so much anyway. Like you said saxx, the country needs it, its called a boycott (spell), take it away from them until they sort it out.
Chris
12th September 2005, 19:01
I normally put optimax in my FTO, but this week I had to lower it to normal unleaded cause the Optimax was over a quid and my tank holds 70 litres!

grantsmith1985

theyll only increase prices as people go mad or increase them AGAIN once the dust has settled!
grantsmith1985
12th September 2005, 19:35
they will increase them as it starts because demand increases. but block the fuel and they will have to sort something out. what would you rather do, sit and do nothing and pay 95p a litre or block it and maybe get it lowered a bit.
saxx
12th September 2005, 19:37
i dont HAVE to use my car and i get good mileage from mine - sure it annoys me that petrol is 90p if not a bit more - but i dont drive a fuel drinkin beast so i dont really have much to complain about!

damo..............banoffee pie?
where there's a fuel shortage, every form of transport fails. cars, trucks, lorry's, etc... i remember last time that the big food supermarkets werent getting their deliveries and so everybody stacked up leaving nothing left.
so, i will get my bannoffie pie tonight and i will be sorted for however the strike may last. hehe!!!

Just spoke to my manager, (i work in tescos express fuel staion/shop), he said sales have been well high for today, tho when i went down there a few mins ago to top up the beast it wasnt the busiest i've ever seen it but i still had to queue for like 10 mins tho smileys/smiley11.gif
Craig
12th September 2005, 21:17
so g_man whats the news are there really gunna be blockages? are u likely to run out?
Yates
12th September 2005, 21:24
huge ques at tesco today in newton aycliffe, not so many ques around in darlo tho, bp is the same price as morrisons n tesco at the moment
G_man_GT
12th September 2005, 21:25
We always run out at my tesco express even on a normal day cos esso are never fussed about filling our tanks, i reckon we will run out at a couple of days this week, infact i guarantee it, tho esso or the hoyer transport/delivery company would never let word out that there were any blockages going/not going to happen cos its not in their interests. Else if they tell people that there will be blockages then poeple will panic buy and if they dont happen they they could be taken to court for trying to "Glorify" the situtaion to boost sales if you will.
Long story short - we wont know for a few days yet probably but you can usually get a bit of info by speaking to the drivers, im in work tomorrow so i'll c what i can find out from the esso/hoyer guys, they're prob the best bet for insider knowledge smileys/smiley2.gif
