I know a lot of people on here have fitted alloy wheels question is did it bump your insurance premium up by much?

really depends on who u are insured with mate quinn direct didnt put mine up at all.

it will bump up your premium IF you tell them about it, alot of poeple dont tell ther insurance company about the modifications and some people didnt even no they wer suposed to, i wouldnt bother, but.. they can refuse to insure you if you have a crash but realy depends on who your with and what wheels ect lol

im with bell, and it cost me about £80 to put 17'' wheels on, and they are insured, you will probially find that if they charge you, they will be covered, if they do not charge you, then you are insured to drive the car with them on, but the wheels them self are not insured.

i didnt insure the VTR alloys on my 1.1 becuase i thought they were there from the beginning, therefore standard.

Although when i rang up direct line they asked iff i had aftermarket alloys and i said no, then he asked iff i had standard ones so i said yes. and he said direct line do not insure anybody under 25 iff they have alloy wheels. WTF:wall:

Most insurance companies have an option for Manufacturer Alloys/Optional extra alloys which is generally much less of an increase than aftermarket alloys as such.

So basically a VTR running VTS Wheels would barely increase insurance, where as wacking some Lenso's or OZ's on will increase a fair bit (this is dependant on Insurance company though).

If the insurance company doesn't have an option to say that your using optional extra/manufacturer wheels, only one for aftermarket wheels, I PERSONALLY wouldn't bother declaring them unless they were a non-standard colour (eg White or black) rather than just metal. This is only my personal view though. :y:
