Car Stereo - wont turn on unless car is on.

i bought this a few days ago and its all setup with 2 pioneer 902s 6 by 9 speakers.

however i cant seem to turn on the stereo without turning on the car. not sure if i'm doing something wrong. my standard stereo which i had in before this one, i could turn without even turning on the car.

any1 know nething i can do to solve this problemo

when you say turn the car on do you mean engine running or just have the keys in and turnt to ignition?

as liam said, when you say on, are you trying with the ignition on ie two clicks or with the car started????

i think you mean with engine off though, the standard unit does that feature, you can have it on but would need to wire a permanent live to the switched live, so you have two permanent lives, the face plate will turn the unit on and off so dont worry about it running the battery down

however it is easier to just put it on the battery and use the headunit like that

Yeh i mean with the engine off. no key in the ignition.

dude if the stereo would turn on without the key there was a problem with the wiring its only supposed to come on if key is in the ignition and switched but not started

well most cars should do that as it saves you killing the battery but you can wire the memory wire and the ignition wire to the always live that will mean you can use the headunit without the keys but becare full you dont leave it on when you leave the car as the battery will die
