Also consider that the running costs of an Impreza are three times as high as a Saxo.

problem will be fidning a good scooby for the same money as a vts

Or you could even, like said already, turbo vts and give them scoobys a run for their money.

I htink to be honest if you are gonna buy s scooby better save your self the money in the long run and spend at leat £4500. then you know it should be pretty good, if you cant afford that I owuld go for the vts.

having owned an import WRX before I was banned i'd honestly say i'd rather go for a vts than the impreza u posted there...if you're getting a scooby get a post facelift classic (after december 96 (p reg)) or later, as pre-facelifts have shit turbo's and dont look as good inside or out.
also take into account that for a good service on an impreza from a top garage (never go to a subaru dealer) you'll be approx 350-400 quid, also when you take into account that an import impreza is made to run on optimax with octane boost you're talking near 50 quid for a tank of fuel... then theres the insurance factor, for a uk car you're group 17, for an import pre-facelift its group 19 and for a post facelift its group 20D...
With an impreza i'd advise an oil change with exceptionally good oil every 2-3000 miles, then you've got rocker gaskets which will probably needing done on any impreza more than 6 or 7 years old
Then theres the misconception that an impreza is an easy car to drive... having owned one and driven the likes of evo's, supra's, 200's, rx7's i'd honestly say its a very very difficult car to drive... handles like a dream..... until the back end slides!
take my advice and go for vts lol

if you can afford the scooby then go for it mate. but for everyday running costs i'd go for the vts
but i'd hate to be having to make a decision like that
