Not for me but want to see if what i have been told is correct.
Basically, if i was in an accident, completely the other persons fault and they accepted that.
if i claimed on their insurance then would i loose my own ncb.
I have read/been told that i would loose them as it is a claim and the insurance has to deal with it.
any advice would be good.
cheers

if you claimed on their insurance then you would not loose your no claims
as its the other persons fault so your insurance company would'nt have to pay
for any thing whoever told you that is wrong
if you think about it know one would have any no claims if they crashed no matter whos fault it is
so there would be no point in insurace

as long as they admitted liability your ncb should be ok. if however it ended up your word against someone elses (and it was settled as a 50/50 with no-one claiming responsibility) then you would get a claim on your record.

Your own insurance company will freeze/cancel your policy as soon as you make the claim. If you then reinsure your vehicle, or any other, your no claims bonus will still apply to your old policy, and therefore you won't be able to use your NCB on the new policy.
However, if you are claiming off someone else's policy (ie accident was their fault), as soon as the claim is finalised and your insurance company recieves the money, your no claims will be restored and you will recieve a refund on your policy cost, to reflect the no claims bonus.
