This may be a silly question but i was wondering driving home, if say you took a car, BMW, Audi, Merc etc. with xenon headlights, removed there bulbs and put them in your own car (providing they fit) would you get the proper xenon effect?
or would your wiring just set the front of your car alight.
I no it would be a joke trying to find some that fit in a saxo but worth a thought.
What people ideas?

The OEM Xenon bulbs fitted on other cars along with there ballast are very good quality and in so are very expensive. But yes there us no reason you could not take them out an fit them to another car. The wiring it self is very simple. The fittings however on Xenon bulbs are totally different to that of Halogen bulbs. There is no such thing as a OEM H4 Xenon bulb. It is illegal however to use on the road a bulb that is not approved for the headlight they are fitted to. It is worth noting much of the reason the lights look as they do in some BMWs, Audis, Mercs and so on is not so much to do with the bulb but rather the optics them self. For example no OEM bulb is actually blue even though people are often mistaken in to thinking they are. OEM bulbs are yellow and its actually the optics that refract the light and can give it a blue ish mist even though the light given off is actually a yellow ish white. This web site has a little but of information on retrofitting Xenon lights www.hid.moonfruit.com
