powder coating

its powder and baked on at high temp, very good and less likely to scratch, drop a ratchet on your painted strut brace probs mark it, it wont on powder coated

Why is it that powder coated stuff wont mark compared to painted?

podwer coating or even plastic coating is the way forward :y:

The heat treatment helps the powder bed into the applied surface and so has a very firm and durable coating :)

Whats the price difference?

Predator_R32
8th December 2008, 21:51
tbh id say you will get the wheels done for the same price as a refurb, about 30 - 40 a wheel

Can do, but you'll have to be quick... probably going in just before christmas... I'll let my mate know (sister's boyfriend - proper handy lad and knows his mechanical shiz) and we might be able to get another little discount :)

How much for these brakes... I'm not going to bend over for them.

Those wheels look the same as they would if they was prepped properly and painted, it's not the way forward lol.

ye they look the same, but thats not the point, the point is its alot easier to damage/ scratch painted part than it is powder coated

how did you expect them to look? its still paint at the end of the day...

what would you prefer, ones that are alot tougher, or ones that chip when you accidently hit the wheel brace off the paint work? they cost the same...

it clearly is the best way to do it

Please tell me what your talking about? Expect them to look like what? Think you need to read again tbh pal, i simply said they (coated wheels) look the exact same as they would if they was prepped and painted normally, as immense said '' they do look good in all fairness ''

'' alot tougher, or ones that chip bla bla bal '' erm...... where is this coming from?? The topic is the strut brace, which is what i answered to, read page 1 first. Good idea for wheels yes i agree.

And in answer to this ''it clearly is the best way to do it'', why don't they powder coat all car panels? Rhetorical, they don't.
It doesn't cost the same when it comes to panels and strut braces etc.....

Apparently the OMP braces come powder coated (red/anthracite) as standard, so it makes sense to go with p/c.

In most cases powder coating is as cheap as painting because once prepped the operation is less time consuming.
Prices at Flowplant Group are £20 - £35 per wheel, shotblasted and powder coated (that's standard prices not mates rates or 'cash in hand'.
Many people think powder coating is a lot more expensive than it actually is.
