if you had about 7 units, you need to wait 5 hours

Predator_R32
10th December 2008, 16:34
so you have had about 7 - 8 units say

tbh well over the limit, get someone else to drive

Peejous

Ask Cal...

Seriously though you lose something like a unit an hour (roughly)

So best walk.

1 unit is 1 hour to leave your system...

so 4 units takes 4 hours till your under the limit again... but don't forget that each pint and bottle of vk is different and maybe 1.3 or 1.5 units per bottle or pint, so always keep in mind that , that 0.3 or 0.5 of a unit can be the cause of being over the legal limit= ban + jail time.

even the one pint one hour thing is bollocks.

like I've had a bottle of wine and been fine to drive like 1 hour later because my liver rocks.

but in all seriousness you've gotta be soooooo careful man, and to be honest is it really worth pissing around debating whether you can drive or not spesh with extra pigs about trying to catch people pissed and driving?

Peejous
10th December 2008, 16:57
Ive heard eating half an onion and drinking chicken fat helps the alcohol leave your system faster.

PS this doesnt work but would make you stink and be funny.

NO!
Alcohol leaves your system at the rate of 1 unit per hour.
This is irregardless of whether you excersise and sweat, drink lots of water, drink coffee, vomit etc etc
No matter what you do, the rate at which the liver processes alcohol does not change. 1 unit per hour. And thats based on a healthy liver.

ricksimmonds
10th December 2008, 17:07
Well it isnt. thats fact.

Its an average

peoples liver will process alcohol at different rates, so its not fact, but luckily noone can process a bottle of wine in an hour

would make for expensive and/or sober nights out

Cal

5 units is the limit for a male.

Can is roughly 3 units each...

exactly man... everybody's liver is different, as is the rate of absorbtion into the bloodstream and as is the rate at which the liver can process metabollocksly. Hence why the one hour rule is not a rule, is a very very loose guide and not, actual fact.

not to mention that 2 units of alcohol will fuck up someone whilst someone else might not even feel a thing.

dangerous game the drinking and driving lottery...

yes it is average but as you continue to drink more and more you run the risk of hepatitus of the liver, which causes the processing rate to decrease, and after that if you keep drinking you will end up with cirrhosis. At some point during cirrhosis the liver will no longer process alcohol and it will continously run around your blood, increasing the chance of a swift death...

and the legal limit of alcohol in your system before being over is 80mg per 100ml blood, allowing you to drink a pint to a pint and a half of beer before your over.

no i'm not, and you CAN get cirrhosis from continuous drinking, seeing as your supposed to give your body at least 24 hours to recover inbetween each drinking session.

cool stuff man... but I think within the context of this thread it's not too much of a concern... merely the 1 hour rule which we've established isn't fact.

lol, am sure if anyone has 2minutes they would find on any nhs/medical website that the liver relieves the body of 1 unit per hour.

Ask some of the young ones on here, am sure they would agree with me, if they have been to one of them boring drinking and general health assembleys at their schools, or did A level Biology :y:

limit is 5 for men, if you had 7 units and started drinkin at 12 you should be at the limit by half 2. its not an exact science

Thats the guide mate, it depends on so many variables some peple are different to others. Therefore stating that 1 unit per hour is a safe guide to follow isn't really great tbh. I seriously wouldn't stake my licence and my clean criminal record on it.
