Is it legal to have your front number plate in your windscreen on the passenger side at the bottom (next to tax disk)??

Thanks

No, you can get into trouble if you move them to the side of the bumper! Has to be there for police, congestion charge cameras, ANPR etc.

Surely it wont make a difference to anpr and congestion charge cameras etc, because what about bikes!? ... They can be anywhere in the lane, and they dont have a front number plate?

It's not illegal in the window but the plate has to be clearly visible.

Well I've not planned anything, but I think cars looks so much better without front number plates.

So was thinking of possibly doing something with my bumper..Not sure what yet.

I saw someone on here drilled holes where the number plate goes (I'm assuming for cold air to the engine) or smooth out the number plate recess :)

as far as i remember the number plate has to be on the front of the car and facing forwards so that it is visible from directly ahead. Hense why evos and the alfa above have spacers on the rear of the plate to turn them slightly.

iirc it is technically illegal to have the plate on the windscreen as that is not the front of the car. Whether you would get pulled for it is down to the police at the time, but i'm fairly sure it would be an mot failure.

Check on the dvla website if I were you.

there is not a need for a fixed front bumper (as imports ect may not have a place)

but you can get in trouble for it

Or just buy a carbon widemouth insert, then you just have to take the bumper off to cut out the slats, so wouldnt take long.
Or if theres a weekend where u dont need your car you could try do it then !?

not sure if its illegal or not but one of my mates did it and got away with it for a while unitl he got pulled for it once, slap on the wrist said sorry, pulled a second time and given a warning saying if it happens again hes gettin fined lol

i think it looked quite good aswell (bumper was smoothed)

on a standard bumper will look wank

Hmm could do but i dont really like the look of them and i dont think they fit very well.

I think it will take more than a weekend especially with having to get it resprayed and everything.

If i buy a new bumper i can sell mine after and hopefully make all the money back

Reg plates have to be at both the front and facing forward. Tilting in any angle other than vertical is not permitted nether is moving the plate to any other place other than the front of the vehicle.

Also the plate must be rigidly secured and not likely to move. You are not allowed to obscure it in any way by placing anything in front of it. Even placing a clear plastic or glass cover over it is forbidden.

So in every single aspect above placing the reg plate in the front window is forbidden.

You cant have it in the rear window as there are no number plate lights, but not sure about the front one :s, as there are no plate lights on the front, so i dont see why you cant have it there, apart from it looking daft lol

OK, well I posted earlier in this thread as Id been stopped for the plate on the front of my Mustang, but according to the law the policeman was talking utter boll**ks.

Front windscreen appears fine as long as you abide by the rules stated here.

There's illegal and there's just plan right stupid. A neighbor of mine had his rear number plate stolen or something, not sure why, it was nothing special. He's currently driving around with an A4 sheet of paper with it written on, ha, isn't clear to read what so ever.

My plates comply to BS AU 145d and have the manufactures name and BS number printed on them.

He'll soon be getting a few tickets then, when his plates are used in a smash and grab or worse, needs to report that ASAP!

tiger seal is sticky shit, not sure if i would put plates on with it, a spoiler maybe. i used the pads from halfords and still good after a few months. was going to screw them but i didnt want to drill holes through the plates. if had holes i wouldv screwed
