Hi All,
When I pull out the passenger seatbelt in my wife's VTR, the portion of the belt that has been wound in the inertia reel mechanism is wet. I explored by trying to remove the trim panel, which proved difficult but I did manage to get the front and top edges loose, and I could then reach in with my hand.

Yep. There's wetness under the inertia belt assembly, and this is obviously 'wicking' onto the belt. The question is: where is the water coming from? Everything above seems dry. Could it be getting in from underneath? I've had a good feel around under the car and I can't find any obvious drain holes.

The car is 11 years old btw, and we have looked after it from new. Could this be a rust hole underneath? Is this a known problem? I'd be grateful for any help anyone can give.

Could be coming in from a rust hole or a dodgy window seal above the tensioner.

Thanks for that Ste. I don't think it's coming from above as everything looks dry up there and the insulation/rockwool-type stuff is dry as a bone at the top, only wet at the bottom, around the level of the tensioner. Maybe I need to let the garage have a proper look underneath, for a rust hole?
