Hey guys,
Recently got my Alipine headunit in the post, and today I thought i'd try and fit it. Ready for Tuesday, when i will start to use my car again (getting taxed).
Heres a few pics i took. Please can someone explain how im meant to fit this cd player, ive checked various guides on the net etc, and ive fitted cd players in my old fiesta, rover, and punto. But thei just cant understand it in my saxo.
The previous owner has had a field day with this..
The Cables On The Back Of The CD PLayer:

Now, as my sax doesnt seem to have the block connectorsl i guessed i would just have to connect them without it?
Heres a few pics of all the wires that i dont have a clue what are doing:
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/7466/p2412081317xh5.th.jpg (http://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2412081317xh5.jpg)

Please can someone explain what I'm meant to be connecting to what; theres even more wires behind the dash but the camera didnt like the darkness and none of the pics came out well.
There also an alarm "box type thing" behind there too.
Thanks guys :)
By the way... Its The Alpine cde- 9874 series one ive got, if that makes any difference.

Your in for some fun and games here, firstly you need to know whats what on the iso plug, should go some thing like this;
Battery +12 volt: Yellow or Red
Ignition +12 volt: Red
Remote control: Blue and white
Earth / Ground: Black or Brown
Now are you connecting to an amp, if so your life is going to be simple if not it can be done but its a nightmare.
front speakers are normally fitted by Citroen using red and green for the front speakers, these are then some times cut and then another coloured wire used.
Finding left and right you need to put an output onto each speaker cable and see if it responds and to get the side.
So if we work from the iso plug and into the car as to speak, we should have some thing like this;
white + white and black, front left speaker, this goes to a green and red normally
grey + grey and black, Front right speaker, this goes to a green and red normally
Green + green and black, rear left speaker, this was red and grey in the car,
purple + purple and black, rear right speaker, this went to white + white and black in my car.
That should be the speakers, I didn't use any of these in the end because I amped all my speakers. Now onto functions, a 12v bulb and or a meter are handy to have here.
From the ISO plug to the car again;
Blue and white = remote for amp, doesn't go to any cable in the car.
Red and black = yellow and grey (can only assume this is for some form of power)
Yellow = grey (Battery)
Orange = blue (Illumination)
Brown = earth, I just crimped this into an earth cable I had from the cig lighter to keep it simple.
Here is a few diagrams which I hope will help as well.

not bad mate
basically the same as i did
permanent live is usually yellow and red is switched live :y:
however some aftermarket units arent always the same, so its best to refer to the handbook

Cheers, its a nightmare to be honest, thats why I amped them all up. Now its time to find a new drivers seat, mines balls'ed, also deciding if I want to put some alloys on the car, also headlight change or just change the bulbs.

Thanks alot Hawkeye, will spend my xmas morning trying to figure this out. lol.
So will i need to cut the ISO plug off of the headunit connections?
Then do i just match up the cables from the original citroen cables by colour, and tape them to the ones on the headunit?
Thanks a bunch mate
and ps. no im not using an amp. lol

nps, you dont need to cut the cables off the iso plug, just strip them and crimp or connector block, them to the corresponding cables. So in your first post, the first pic is for all the speakers. the other conenctor deals with power/remote/so on....

Right OK, im starting to understand a little. lol. So what do u mean by strip them and crimp or connector block? Lol.
It says in the manual that.
Battery- Yellow
Ignition- Red
Ground- Black
Blue- Power
So what colours would i need to connect for each of these (like the original citroen coloured wires)
Much appreciated mate :)

You have a cable from the iso plug with you then crimp or put into a connector block to the other cable.

Then the cables to link are above.

Right sorry to sound like a complete tw*t lol, So do i just pull the cables out of the block? then crimp them? Do i have to crimp them? could i not just wire them up and tape them up?
thanks alot :)

Don't worry, the cables stay in the block, just take the insulation off enough so you can connect them to the cables in the car. No need to crimp or block connect, but I prefere to for the knowledge that they can't come out very easily. although twisting and tape works.

Ok. So how can the cables stay in the little black block if i take the insulation off?
They are firmly stuck into the black box.

Right... Ive made a diagram as to what i think i need to connect now. I understand all of the speaker cables now. Just the power ones:
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/8113/headuintwiringkt3.th.jpg (http://img165.imageshack.us/my.php?image=headuintwiringkt3.jpg)
At the top i have put what colours is coming out of the back of the headunit and under the dashed line is the colour cables they must be connected to (citroen colours)
So is this correct?
Ground: What colour is the ground cable? can u just ground it up to something else if needed?
Power: (blue in picture) Is it correct that it connects to a thicker grey cable?
Please help :)

You should be fine with that, nothing to serious can happen, it will not work or blow the fuse. Just give it ago.
As for Red ignition from the HU, It will connect to yellow or gray, I read that some people use yellow but on my set up I needed gray.
