just wanted to know how hard would it be start to spray your own bodypanels.
would you only need a air compressor and a spray gun and then the primer, colour you want to spay and laquer.
or is it more to that

i would not do it my self tbh, cos if you get a few runs or a reaction your gunner have to sand them down an start all over agen. in the long run it might have been cheaper to sent it to a spray shop.

unless you know what you are doing matey, it can be hard to get right and takes alot of time.
you can do panels and bumpers with cans, but you need to be very careful and its a painstaking process of apply a coat, sanding down smooth, then another coat then repeat over and over again until its mega smooth and you have quite a few coats on ;) i have done it before and it does you head in lol

Its a very annoying process but if you do it right you'll appreciate it more in the long run because its something you did yourself.

meh if you think you ahve the guts for it do it, i did this to my brothers micra when i was 15 my first attampt at spraying took about a week to do but i think i did i good job to be ohnest ( he hit the wall on hour drive ) no pictures of before i sanded it down tho ) But it was a hard one because i had to blend it in oh and i used rattle cans, and i found that using tinnies from my local motor factors where better quality than halfrauds rattlers
Sanded down damaged area

Removed dent sanded, then primed

Sanded them primed

Then this is the final result 1 can of primer 1 can of paint and about half a can of clear in total

pictures will make anything look top notch to be fair.. i can see the hard edge where you havent sanded down the paint edge and again with the primer..
Its possible to do in your garden and has been done plenty of times but if your looking to do it yourself to save money then your wasting your time..

To do a proper job you will need a compressor and gun (forget about rattle cans).
If you've never sprayed with a gun before and don't have a clue where to start then get your self a Haynes manual and starting practising.
Btw, don't get a compressor with a tank smaller than 24 litres.

yeah, i have no problem with people trying it - u got to have balls and there is no doubting you can get good results..
A compressor good enough to spray with needs to be able to push out a decent air pressure.. about £250 for that, then a gun.. probably pick one up for £40 to do that sort of job, paint... 1k basecoat is £30 for half a litre where i go and laqure is £20 - £100 depending on what you want..
hope that helps..

if you want practis dont go painting a car get some damaged pannels or old bumpers from somwhair and do them, its taken me time to get it right even tho my first job turned out good. i say go for it its fun to do but i dont surgest painting anybodys car without quite a bit of prectis.

hp=hprsepower, isnt really that critical on compressers, its the flow rate in cubic (feet or meters) that you want. also depends what spraying your doing and liquid being sprayed as to what flowfate and pressure you require, then you hav nozzle settings and different nozzles to contend with.. bit of a ball ache tbh...............depends how far into it you want to go.
