ok driving along today as you do , all of a sudden car starts lagging in 4th gear like am in 2 high a gear for the speed which wasent the case .
so thought it was a human error .

earlier on in the day i was at asda car park which was full of sleeping police men . which yous with a magnex cat back will know aint the best thing in the world with the middle box hanging so low 2 the ground .

took the bumps rather slow as you do but it scrapped like f**K , shortly after the bumps thats when the car lost power and spluttered and started popn and banging etc .. coming out of the exhaust ... some thing tells me its not just coming from the back , so i got out and checked after my car was suffering from a power loss again . car idles no bother and sounds fine . rev the car and it splutters out the back for a definate and sounds like its also coming from near middle box which is where would have been scraped on the bumps.

possibly i think i have put a hole in the pipe leading in 2 the manifold as this also hangs down like the middle box which obviously aint stainless steel ... could this possibly be a loss of power / spluttering ?

any other sugestions welcome and apreciated .

First thing to do is check the exhaust and the exhaust manifold for any blows. So jack the car up, turn the engine on and have a good butchers underneath. If that all checks out OK, then it's likely a sensor of some sort has given up the ghost, it could be one of many. Has your engine management light come on?

no not any sign of the engine managment light .

could it be the coilpack or possibly the lambda sensor ?

just seems like the car stops put the foot right down and then it just jumps back in 2 action ?

cheers for any help guys.

I doubt it's the lambda sensor as I don't believe it can tell the ECU to make alterations to the fuelling so instantaneously, that it would cause all power to be suddenly lost. Coilpack is a possibility, but that's an expensive piece of equipment, and should also show up on the management light, as you'll be having misses. I'm still edging towards the TPS... Have you ever cleaned it before? It's a little tricky to get to, but it's worth a shot... Failling that, it's best to get a diagnostic done, as we could be guessing and guessing...

It's probably best if you go for a diagnostic then. I think Citroen will charge you 1/2 hours labour if you talk to them nicely enough. :)
