DECAT pipe

Just wandering does anybody know if its worth getting a magnex decat pipe is it much better than a non named one?? they look the same to me!!

also what will i expect to see from it?? will there be much power gain and will my exhaust sound much louder??:y:

theyre pretty much the same as an unbranded one mate.

Exhaust will be slighty louder, depending on what backbox you got, and dunno about gain maybe 5bhpishh

i have a magnex 1. but im not sure what difference there is between them all. mine goes through the revs alot faster with it on though gains will be minimul

You wont gain much if any bhp mate, makes the exhaust not a slight bit deeper. And they are basically all the same tbh.

wouldnt u get about 5bhp gain considering 106 xsi de-cat are 100bhp and with cat are 95bhp?

ok fair enough lookin to make my exhaust a bit louder, because ive got a magnex centre section and back box on it and its fairly quiet to be honest, just wanted to make it a lil louder but dunno if its gonna b worth it.

mine is loads louder with the de-cat tbh. is yours a mk1 or mk2?

mk1 with magnex. mk2's have the lambda sensor in the cat right? my magnex doesnt have a hole for one though. do they do a mk2 pipe?

lmao thats a real good question i havnt actually checked im guessin they do ive spoke 2 a couple of people with them on there mk2's, sorry this may sound a stupid question, but what does the lambda sensor do?? do i need it?

only gain will be noise, the power you gain you will lose in torque

if im loosing torque then it will mean it will take longer to get to speeds??? how do you make that out sorry?? the cat stops air travelling as fast??

yeah will be minorly slower on acceleration, but from the noise you will think your going faster! ;)

having no cat also looses back pressure! there for decreasing torque!

whats this DECAT pipe? i thought the cat was in the mani? does the cat come off the mani so you can replace it with a small pipe or something?

underneath most cars, joined to the mainfold is a catalytic converter, which has a sliencer in it to make the exhaust quieter, as said up there you have to have the cat on the car if your car is newer than 1992, but you can take it off and replace it with a straight through pipe, however come mot you will need to change it back, else it will fail.

on all vts's the cat is under the car mate. furios and mk2 vtr are in the mani

ive got a scorpion decat on my magnex system and raceland manifold, yes it does make ur car faster, but ull need some backpressure for a n/a vts, u dont need the lambo sensor hole but itll bring a light on ur dashboard up because it reads differently but dont worry about it. the noise is still sporty and not stupid loud and there worth buying, id try and get a branded one, but if not a non-branded one if ur sure itll fit properlly, save and get a manifold too (£120 raceland) and ull notice a big difference in acceleration and noise :)

doesnt matter what one you get they all the same, probs just make sure its s/s :y:
