i got a question for you though, my saxo just had new gearbox put in it, its got the wrong battery for the car but wouldnt think it made a diffrence, i was driving and the car just cut out, its started but then would just cut out on its own, now as soon as i put the ignition on i just get a constant clicking from the engine bay, any ideas? im desperate. im hoping its not the timing belt gone or sumthing like that, i need urgent reply if possible. has anyone else had a problem like this? how many miles can the vts engine take? mines got 99500 on a 2000(w) its been serviced all through its life. please reply

you can get any garage with a diagnostics machine to take the airbag warning light off.

as far as the wrong battery goes i dont think it would make a difference, may be something to do with starter motor??

the starter motor turns over, what ive got is a clicking coming from the engine bay. when ive had it started it goes then cuts out and this clicking happens???? im stumped

well in that case i dont know lol but take it to a diagnostics machine if the air bag light bothers you ;)

sounds like the fuel pump relay clicking therefore not giving your engine any fuel its located under the ecu so if you can see if its coming from there!!1

sounds like fuel pump relay as above said. airbag light is probably caused by the wires under your seat. battery wont make a difference

never thought about the travel issue lol :S

Could the clicking be a faulty solenoid on the starter motor?

Does the airbag light go off when the engine is running? If not then its most likely seat belt pre-tensioners. If it is remove the bult.

if the battery isnt man enought it'll cut out but that would have to be very under powered but full injuction engines do need a top notch battery as they do draw alot of power

you also get 3 points on your license if the battery is not secure so make sure its secure!!

yeah theres a load of stupid things you get pounts for, not having water in the washer bottle?, having loose wires near moving engine parts, aslo get points if you dont have a cambelt cover!!

not quite right the battery is the as a storage of power for starting the car once the engine is running the alternator then gives all the power to all the other electrical items. so provided the engine starts it should not be the battery.

I'd get the right size battery in there first - then begin testing the voltage the alternator is producing, and the resistance across the wire that goes from the alternator to the battery (it goes via the starter motor - at this point it could be loose).

Also, does your starter motor actually turn the engine over? If so, then is either a fuel or a spark problem. If you unplug your fuel hose, and turn the key to the 2nd click the fuel pump should prime and fuel should come out.

If this does then is a spark problem - maybe check all the connectors around the coil pack. I'd also check all the earths in the engine bay, could be somthing simple like a loose earth/connection.

Did you have the battery light on before it started to cut out etc. ?

i may have a lambda sensor for you and the fuel pump relay and a rear wiper

he said it fires up then cuts out, so the battery is doing its job. dork!
