What part of the angel eyes actually melts from HID's.
Is it the halo rings taht melt?
Could you take the halo rings off, and then fit an HID kit?
Cause then it would be legal as they are projector, and i think HID's look mint in projector headlights.

If they are E marked for HID and in so only take HID bulbs for example only take D2 bulbs then yes the headlight it self would be legal. All the codes match up at least of the police would take a look. However if it takes a halogen bulb such as a H1, H4 or kin then no it would be illegal.
35W and over HIDs also all require auto levelling and washer systems. Though I am positive there is a way to bend the law a bit on these two.

basically its a bad idea lol
if they had metal domes or bigger domes youd be ok
its like morrettes have metal domes so being closer in makes no difference with the heat
still illegal though

Mate. I think ive told you already, i melted a set of angel eyes with my HID's LOL.
The ring around the projector actually melted and the lens started to crack!
I also tried putting an original lens on the angels but it doesn't fit :(
If you do get angels, the ultra bulbs are best to get, thats what i got in the end.

I love the look of the angels on my car but the current light they put out is pants lol.
Are there any bulbs I could buy which fit directly into the angel eyes and put out a nice bright, crisp white/blue light? Some of the HID kits I've seen on cars round my place light half a street up lol and look amazingly bright...

Ive HID's in mine now for 6 months no problems, I always make sure the lense is clean though, Once they get dirt on them they then heat up and start traping the heat inside causing the melting! washer kit!

Yeah with standard bulbs they were SHITE! Bit better with these Ultra Bulbs until i got them pointing the right places. My dad put it on the light leveling thingy they use for MOT's and they were shocking. Had them adjusted to the extreme legal limit and lit the road up perfectly.
And www.speedbox.co.uk is the only place i could find these Ultra bulbs atm on the tinternet, however i just got them in ASH VALE @ Edge-Performance. If you give them a ring, and say that someone recommended these bulbs i expect they will post them out to you. Best bulbs halogen bulbs i have had in any of my cars.

look at this link:
http://www.rimstyle.com/pages/products/product_detail.html?category=headlights;type=ultra _led_angel_eyes_headlights;id=CI18L25S;model=730
are the bulbs you had the upgrade you can select on this website?

yeah I'm wondering that, the xeonon upgrade that you can get at rimstyle is for the main beam bulbs, I can't seem to find the xenon option for the dipped beam anywhere!

i had the ultra xenon bulbs add-on when i bought my angels. they look spot on but were so shit. you could hardly see anything. the normal yellow coloured bulbs are better but still weak. i emailed ultra and they said in so many words yes you can put HID's in angels, but if you do then kiss goodbye to your warranty. and they said only put the ultra VDX (virtual daylight xenon) kit in there.

can i ask how you wired up your HID's mate??
liam46
3rd January 2009, 19:57
The virtual daylight kit is good unless you wanna go all out HID like a 8000k kit coz the virtual daylight comes up at just under 6000k if i remember from looking at them a while back.
I still suggest not putting HID's in angels through my experience!
