Does any1 have any information at all on door locks, ie pics, info how to change them, problems etc. Had a look on the site and it seems to be a bit of a grey area, would be good if someone actually knew stuff bout them lol.
Got a haynes manual and TBH its not that detailed on this subject.
I cant get my door to close and its a pain in the AAAAASSSSSSSS!

Door locks?

If you remove the doorcard - then you should be able to see the bar that mounts onto the back of the doorlock. There's a u shaped metal plate that slides into grooves in the back of the lock to hold it inplace. If you remove this plate the door lock is free to come out.

Not 100% if you mean the above - if your door doesn't close then more likely to be the door catches?

thanks will try but i think its more to do with the actual lock.

Can you expand a bit more?

Does the lock work? Does the door close, but not stay in place? i.e the catch doesn't catch the door when you close it?

Does the door not even come close to closing?

Sorry if my terminology is wrong. This is what I mean

Door lock/barrel - the thing you put your key in
Door catch - the part that holds the door in place when you close it/locks the door in place
Door hinge - hinge the door opens on
Door strap - when you open the door it holds the door in a certain degree of opening

the door closes no problem but its as if the catch isnt catching, it used to do it now n then but now it just wont catch if u know what i mean. ive took the door card off and had a look, i can c i small metal rod with a end shaped like a hook hanging loose as if its meant to be attached to something but its just hanging there (will try n get pics), it has remote central locking but this appears to be working fine. also i think the alarm is linked with the central locking, ie the alarm is deactivated when i operate the central locking, am i rite in sayin this.

Sounds about right.

Iirc (if I recall) when you close your door, the shaft part that's screwed to your body shell pushes on a part in the door catch which triggers a little part to flick down and hold the door closed.

Sounds like the link between them is broken? I.e when you close to door, the shaft goes into your catch but doesn't trigger the little part to come down. Sorry can't be much more help. If you get a bolt, try and swipe it into your door catch aaa if the doors closing, and see if the little part comes down, might just need adjustment, of there is any.

i had trouble with mine

citroen wanted £120 for a few parts and to fix it all back together

ended up buyin a 2nd hand door rippin all the parts out n fittin it meself

took me a few hours coz its really tricky

is yours a mk2?? coz i no that they changed the lock assembly slightly

on mk2s thers a metal rod that hooks into the lock mechanism.. which is held on by 3 torx bolts on the inside of the door

thers a catch that clips from the door opening mechanism into the lock assembly so that when you open the door it flicks a catch up

the lock itself is held on by a metal U shaped thing, and the lock barrel clips into the lock assembely by a small rod , which moves the lock up and down when you turn the key

i ended up fucking mine up trying to de-pin... but i the the door like the back of me hand now haha!!! shame ur not close to here i'd of fixed it for ye

if the door aint closin properly check the torx screws holdin the lock assembly are tight

also that metal rod thats dangling will probs be the 1 that needs to be attachced to the lock barrel

get a torch in there coz you'll need it to see

start by gettin a screwdriver and hammer... and hammer the metal U off holding the lock in its place, theres a small hole by the 3 torx's stick the screwy through there it'll just pop off

then you can attach the small rod to the lock barrel, which can be V tricky coz theres not much room/light, took me a good while to get it in

to make things easier u might wanna undo the 3 torx's whilst your doin it

Have you considered this might be due to the weather?

My VTR drivers door refuses to stay shut when cold, but after a few miles it is OK. I had the same problem on a ZX, my temporary solution was to hold the door shut and activate the central locking until it got warm.

I've spent an hour today checking over the latch on the VTR and it works fine when closed using a finger as the door post, but bounces open when shut normally. Adjusting the post did not cure it. I finally tried shutting the door very gently and presto! it shut normally. The windows are frozen solid as well so I am assuming there is ice somewhere on the door handle activation mechanism as well as in the window seals.

I to have a problem with the drivers door not shuuting in the cold weather? It's a 1.1 2006 Desire and the door refuses to 'catch' when the weather is cold outside. The Citroen garage in Loughborough cannot find a problem with it?

Once the car is warm inside, or the temp outside is warmer, the door shuts fine?

Is my car haunted?:wall: Wot's goin on lads?
