Hi Ive tried here, I even asked my cousin a mechanic for Suzuki and printed out some information, But he said for replacements it needs to be done via diagnostic machining.

So gonna have a look elsewhere

shop around your local citroen dealers, they will charge different prices depending on who they are owned/run by. At our place, we dont charge a customer to code their key (so long as they buy the key from us, £25 otherwise) but go up the road to MK and they charge £30+ whether you buy the key from them or not. Shame I work at a Honda dealer really!

Be thankful you dont have a vauxhall...their prices (my local dealer) are ridiculous!! lol

Just to clarify that price was just to code the fob!

It was a Evans Halshaw Citroen garage. They wasnt the most helpful either just standing around talking to each other lol.

I already got the fob, Just needs it programming to the vechile.

good ol' Evans Halshaw! im part of the same company who owns Evans Halshaw (but we are called 'Stratstone' instead) so that shows how dealerships who are owned by the same 'top dog' can still have different payment prices!! and they probably werent very helpful coz they work for the same bunch of w***ers that I have to work for...

Try a more 'independant' dealer...they may come up worse, or they may be better. It's pot luck!!

They charged me 75 quid for a new headlight. I had to have the current one replaced as it was smashed and obviously was not road legal- but I still needed my car that day. Checked on Eby you can usually pick one up brand new between 20-40 quid!

I think £49 just to code up the key fob is a rip off - how long would it actually take them to do the job?? Not long i'm guessing.

Always the way with Citroen though hey lol

Going to need a new fob myself soon, only got one & it's starting to fall apart a little.

on the basis its takes approx 15-20 mins (from the moment the car is being moved to the workshop to the moment the keys are back in the customers hand) this citroen dealer you went to are implying their labour rate is £135-£180 per hour!!! which is about the same as, if not more (in most cases), as a BMW or Mercedes Dealer!!!
Although they are probably trying to charge you for 30 mins labour...

Yeh they said it would be Half hour Labour, But just to code it, Its a bit of a rip off i think..

She was a miserable cow who served me anyway so i thought you aint having my money now lol:p

sounds like she was rounding the time up to the nearest half an hour. Alot of places do that coz its easier for the simple service advisors (no offence to anyone on here who is a service advisor) to work out the "complicated sums" inside their pretty little heads!!

Like i said, some places dont charge, some try to charge you 30mins labour, some only 15mins. you just need to ring around!!

cant work out why they couldnt fit you in until Feb...you could (if you wanted) try and catch her out by ringing the call centre and asking when the next available time is to have a tyre changed (also about 30mins labour)...then if they turn round and say 'tuesday' you know the miserable cow was lying to you! haha

Ye i see them advertised on ebay, But i think its just for brand new fobs that works for. With one thats already been programmed previously (second hand) it needs to be done by citroen... thanks anyway
