Ive had so many cars I can barely remember but the Saxo is the first French car I have bought. For the obvious reason they are known to be unreliable.

Saying that though my Saxo has (touch wood) never broken down yet.

Swapping from one french car to another to improve reliability though sounds like a really bad idea.

in all fairness all cars have problems and weaknesses. probs best askin on a clio forum for known problems or reliability issues? the 172/182s can look mint with a few mods, and from wha people say still a very fun car to drive!

Clio's are generally thought to be better build quality than Saxos, but it does depend on the condition of the car. Keep up the maintenance etc and it should be alright.

I've secretly been wanting one of these as a second car to strip and track it. They are very cheap these days..

my other half has a clio 172 and its never broken down, the only thing that has really gone wrong is recently the electrics keep going as we're driving along and all of a sudden, he wont have any lights or indicators and then they'll just come back on, totally random! think its just a problem with a fuse or something so nothing major really! they're awsome little cars, if i could get insured on one, i would definately buy one!

Better build quality. But every Clio i've had has had the coil go down. Common fault. Still dosen't put me off though, id love a 172 :y:
