harnesses

am having trouble fitting my harnesses as i am unsure of where to bolt in the innner side of the buckets... any pics of harnesses fitted and fitting points woud be much appreciated, cheers

i used the exsisting bolt from the subframe mounting and layed the connecter over the hole in subframe and floor. Then put the bolt back in. Bobs your uncle.

I dont have pics and the car isnt stored near me.

my 4 pointers, 1 lap belt is bolted to the seatbelt mount behind the seat on floor near firewall for fuel tank, other is wrapped round and bolted to the seat subframe.

The two rears are mounted

Got a SD cup car cage replacing it though :D

And Re: where paul has his mounted, that would have the rear belt at a rather funky angle if you are mounting it in the inner wing area

its allready been prov sold to someone once its out.

As soon as i get the mounts for the cage the SD is going in and floor bars going so then my profi SPG seat will fit.

Potentially might not be the safest though if the angle is really far off center, depends how it pulls down on both shoulders.

Well no denying it would be at a better angle bolted to the back but easiest option if they want seats in the back.

I had seats in somedays for passengers, otherdays had mdf floor down for midimotor.

I used to get pulled alot when i had my previous saxo's. Cops never commented on the harnesses.

i know where they go at the rear but i mean to the left of the drivers seat and right of the passengers seat? there are no visible holes to screw the screwing eyes into so am unsure what to do...

You can see in my picture and in Jays description where they go mate, theres four bolts that hold the seats in, on the drivers side you use the back left hole on the passeneger side the back right hole. You bolt the subframes into the4 car on the other three bolts, then with the fourth bolt you put the harness onto the bolt and then screw it through the subframe into the shell of the car

but i have screwing eyes that screw in, and then the harnesses clip on these.... the harnesses do not bolt directly in

I told you where to bolt them

You mount the EYEs for the lap belts in the threaded hole behind the seat which is just infront of the fuel tank firewall. Its where part of the old seatbelt mounts. Then the eye bolt you can also as i have done mount by drilling a hole in the subframe.

Then the other to the subframve after drilling into it for the eyebolt.

no. Your back one as you know goes to the rear seat belt thing. the one one the drivers right hand side goes in to the hole from the seatbelt mounting bolt. And the one on the drivers left goes in to the exsisting hole in your subframe just use the exsisting bolt and put it through the connector then back through the subframe as though you were just bolting your seats down. that should be it sorted.

cheers mate, thats how i thought u mite do it but the end of the harnesses are not actually holes they are sort of clips that go onto an eye so am not sure if this would be a good idea

This isnt legal, you have to use the original seatbelt mounting points in the car.
Did you car pass the MOT alright when you fitted it like this?

Im in the same boat, think i'm going to weld in a new plate to bolt the eye bolt into. Unless i can find some M8 eye bolts, as there is a spare thread next to the old subframe mounts.

It doesnt cost much to get a proper strengthened plate fitted so your belts are secure in a crash. You will need to plate inside the car and underneath too to be properly safe. This will need to go slightly behind the seat (off the top of my head) around the back of where the handbrake is.

On your righthandside there is a bolt hole where the old seatbelt mechanism attaches to - use that for that side.

A competent garage will be able to do the job correctly

I've managed to find some 8mm eyebolts! Happy days! They are rated to 140kgs so should be strong enough and they bolt striaght into the spare 8mm hole behind the handbrake, as theres 2 to choose from to fit the subframe.

Yeah, where you fit the subframes there are two hole to choose from around the handbrake, this pic is pretty poor quality but you can see where I mean, they may be covered by the carpet in standard guise? The only problem is theyre 8mm holes not 10mm, but i've found 8mm eyebolts!

oh rite i see, where did u get the eyebolts from? I may have to change mine in future as mine are bolted to an extra braket on the side of the subframe. I also had to get different sized eyebolts but only managed to find them in screwfix and think they are bigger than 8mm

Ebay! Its the same mount used for the seat so is going to be plenty secure enough.

I would severely advise against this.
There is a reason that harness eye bolts are the size they are.
M8 is quite a bit smaller than a standard eye bolt.
You will "weigh" quite a bit more than 140kg in the event of a hard impact.
For the sake of drilling a slightly bigger hole and using one of these:

2mm smaller! 140kgs, but its a 4 point harness dont forget so theres another 3 points to take the strain ;)

To be honest I think this is far safer solution that drilling a hole in the subframe and bolting the harness to that. I cant see those thin subframes that corbeau make holding much down.

i dont see the issue here ive put harnesses in 3 cars and there are holes in the car in apropriate places so no drilling required
one just needs a load spreading washer on it and its all good

look just behind the handbrake lever theres a rubber bung in the floor
bolt through washer and a nut
and just trim the excess off the thread so it doesnt foul the handbrake mechanism
