If you cant afford it, why bother? Seems a bit silly to me. I dont understand people running 2 cars, if you can afford the insurance etc on 2, you should be able to on 1. Unless the other car does like 14mpg and you do 1000 miles a week.

perhaps he wants one for daily drive and one for track or similar? in that case you dont want to pay a years insurance on a track car used a few times a year...
yes you can rent garages, probably best to look in local paper etc for that mate

BF used to keep his rally car on his mom's drive and 'everyday' car on our own drive. Renting garages can be quite expensive.

im looking into getting another car in a few months to get into rallycross with.. just got to convince my dad that he doesnt need a front garden and we need a bigger drive :) or the garage gets cleared out if i get my way :y:
so many different reasons for wanting to run another car

I can see some of the logic behind it all, but its an expensive option. If you have a car purely for track use, you then need a trailer too as its illegal on the roads with no tax / mot.

keep my corsa in the drive and my gti in the street. sometimes it gets in the driveway if my dad isnt needin his car out. dont see the point having 2 if u cant afford it

if you cant afford 2 cars why even consider doing so.
Im out of contract with my work now which is why 2 out of my 4 are prob gonna go.
Its not sensible to keep something you cant afford no matter how much you would like to do so. Save up some dosh, wait till you are more finanicially secure before you do so.

How much extra is it roughly to put a 2nd car on the same isurance policy? i take it you can do this. i want to keep my vtr and turn into like a weekend/ summer car and have something else as a daily. i want a new car but cant get rid of my sax as love it too much lol! its my first car!

My mate use to run a 106 derv as his daily car, and had a Nova 2.0 Turbo as his toy (feature car).
He could only use his no claims on one car though, had two separate policies both with Adrian Flux. Although there might be some companies that will both on the same policy.
The cost of running 2 cars compared to the saving of not using a thirstier car (in the case of a Saxo 1.1 v VTS) will be greater than if you just ran the VTS all the time.
And end of the day its just a VTS- not some 400bhp Evo or anything!

Im saving for an e46 M3 but ideally want to keep the saxo as a daily hack, but if money does get tight i may be forced to sell the saxo for a cheaper run around.
People are right though, if you cant afford it, dont buy.
