Was happily taking out my seats to hoover out about the subframes and clean them.
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp150/jamiecee-9/IMG_0203.jpg
then i seen this.. its sort of broken where the spacer sits on it, and the bolt nut thing that the bolg goes to has dropped down to a tricky place..
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp150/jamiecee-9/IMG_0206.jpg
this is what its supposed to be like..
http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp150/jamiecee-9/IMG_0209.jpg
any ideas on how i could get the nut back up in place for me to put the bolt in it with the seat in the way, seems impossible to me lol :fcuk:

any boyd think i would need to take off the plate or what ever it is the nut is sitting on under the car to fix it :O or could i try and glue a peice of wire to the side of the nut to keep it in place to get the bolt in ? must be some way lol

looks to me as if its snapped too mate, needs welding back in tbh, the nut is incorported when the chassis is pressed iirc
you could try a magnet, but tbh 3 mounting should hold it in place

as long as i can get the nut back up and get the bolt screwed into it with the seat inplace it will be ok, i had a few peices of ply holding the subframe up at the front acting as a new spacer lol but i didnt know there was a hole like that till i took out the seat, i do know alot of really good welders though..

hmm maby lol there is some sort of cover thats fitted on the bottom of the car though.. could i not find it then cut through it then push the nut in place while someone screws the chair in .. then after some aroldite over the hole to hold on a wee bit of metal lol

The cover under the car is the heatshielding mate, the area where the nuts gone is inside the seam welds of the shell so if you cut it your gonna be cutting the shell

baker556
6th January 2009, 09:44
dont think you need to weld the subframes can you just get another nut from scrappy ie find a sax that has a seat taken out rip into it abit to get another nut out then weld the nut the the correct place then you can just screw the seat in...

the nuts still there its just too tricky getting bak in place because when the seats in place its only a tiny hole thats in the frame.. but im going to see a good welder this afternoon if hes working lol

My floor split/cracked a bit around that hole where th elug has fallen throug hon yours. This caused the seat to move and click all the time. I have put a big "penny" washer in between th eseat and floor to sandwich it all togethor. It has made it all solid again and stopped the creak. (The washer was about an inch big so sort of covered the crack in the floor if that makes sense). Probably a worthwhile thing to do to take the strain off the floor anyway to be honest.

doing this though isent the right way about it though that seat will save your life best to get it done properly instead of doing a bodge job.

Yeah I know that of course, it's just a stop gap until I can get it in the shop and weld it properly.

I don't get it. Where do you put the spacer to stop it squieking? and how can it be welded wouldn't you have to take the carpet out and if you do that and weld the seat back in you wont be able to put the carpet back in.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr really annoying. If i knew what has to be welded could get it sorted.
Please Please Please help :wall::wall::wall:
