Heeeeeeeeeelp

Went to go work this morning and a mile into the journey the temp gauge goes off the scale and on comes the light. (UhOh)

Got the car home and checked me stat. Turns out it was frozen solid shut or somethin.

So went n got a new stat and bled it all, added antifeeze etc etc.

Everything was good all day until toinght! Half a mile from home and the same thing is happening.

I took the bleed nipple off at the back and damn was it steaming like a lil steam gun or summin lol.

Any ideas? I was thinking poss hg as obv air from cylinders could be causing an air lock between stat and bleed nipple, but of all the tools i have and can get, theres no fookin compression tester DOH.

Any help appreciated as always.

Oh and before you say "Just buy a compression tester". I need this car first thing in morning so need it some asa'bloody'p.

Cheeeeers

^^ if you have been running it, when u take the bleed nipple off, of course its going to be hot you tit lmao

btw if u took it off when the car wasnt running youve just caused air to get into the system

most likely will have to bleed the hole lot again lol

love the "of course its going to be hot you tit" ROFL. I knew it was going to be hot, thats not what i was worried about, i was worried cause it wasnt water,it was just pure steam coming out of the bleed nipple.

I was bleeding it while it was running (holding throttle open slightly.) And this is when the 'coughs' of water turned into steam.

It sucks when you fixed something and all day it lets you think all is good until you get right around the corner from home. Atleast it let me get home for warmth and tools lol

Hmmm hg is last on my list though, see if it was headgasket then changing the stat this morning wouldnt of solved the problem and the car wouldnt of ran fine all day today? Im on me level 2 IMI motor vehicle tech so i know quite a bit but not enough to tear into a hg job without having to lol.

ok got the car down the shop this morning.
Turns out the hg has gone and so has the radiator.
Bloke wants 400 big ones for labour and parts.
Is it worth getting a new engine?

Turns out i can get an engine out of a mates written off 106 on a 52 plate for next to nothing.

Will a pug 106 1.1 independance head be a straight swap onto me saxos block?
