ticking noise from engine?

i get this really fast ticking noise appear when at idle after iv driven my car to wherever i'm going.It ticks fast but if i rev the engine it slows down then speeds up again once it has idled. Anyone know what is going on? could it be related to the fact my clutch is on the way out? I'm taking it for a service this week anyways see if that helps. thanks if anyone could let me know

agreed had the same problem on my MK1.

i had that exact problem, sounded like it was comin from the inlet mani

used some redex and it got rid of it
