the initial sand id do dry mate, id only wet between coats, but make sure you keep it very wet though otherwise itll just clog up the paper and do a cack job.

Leave the wet/dry paper in a bucket of hot soapy water for 10 mins before using,& keep on dipping it in the water helps stop it clogging.

ok will do that cheers. also, if there is no kurbing and im not filling anything in the wheel, is it really necessary to sand them down right down to the original grey primer? or can u just sand it a bit to make a key for the new paint?
thought i would ask now before i do all of them!

cheers

it's better from a key'ing point of view to take it right back.

right, sprayed on the first coat of primer on one of the wheels about half hour ago, and looking at it there r no visible imperfections. In the guide, it says spray another coat of primer on when the first coat is touch dry, providing u cant see any imperfections.

Im just wondering if i should spray another coat of primer on now or whether people recommend a light sanding first? as i have seen somewhere people say u shud sand in between coats of primer.

cheers

Wouldn't worry too much about that, if you are applying thin coats of primer and can't see any imperfections then it should be fine. Just sand down the primer before the first coat of colour. :y:

Also would be cool to see some pics of final product :D

ok cheers for that.

yeh i have taken a couple of progress pics already , and once ive finished them ill put them all up on here! The final colour is going to be ford graphite grey.

Might be a little while with the finished pics tho, the sanding is a long process, especially on vtr wheels! lol

Another tip for anyone using rattle cans in the winter months, or even any time of year, leave the spray can in a hot bucket of water for half hour or so before using, itll make the paint spray on much smoother and cleaner.
