Hi, i've just sold my car through a friends friend. at first he tried to sell it at auction so he had all my paperwork (mot certificate, logbook, insurance certificate etc). it didnt sell so he managed to get one of his mates to buy it. ive now got money for car but none of the paperwork back, so how do i let dvla know ive sold car? the bloke is saying the logbook has already been sent off but how can he do that without my signature??? dodgy huh???

just got a text saying he scribbled my details in... so will i get any letter off dvla confirming i am no longer the keeper?

theres a part on the v5 which you send back with the name of the person who bought it and with the address of the lad who bought it

by the sounds of it they've done that and scribbled my signature in - im just wondering if i gat any acknowledgement of no longer being the registered keeper?

normally you keep the bigger part of the v5(front page) and he gets the wee green slip on the other page. then you send your bit to dvla and you get a letter back from them saying thanks for letting them know. but if you have given him the whole thing it will still be registered to you if he hasn`t sent it away. so if he gets parking tickets or caught speeding by the mobile van you get the tickets. happened to my mate. never give the whole thing away cause you could get fucked over. good luck
